Fact-checkers scoff at McCain’s claim that he could have averted Freddie & Fannie crisis

Several Applesauce commenters have made been making a big deal lately of what they seem to think was a prescient warning from John McCain a few years ago about problems at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
The independent Web site PolitiFact.com SAYS McCain’s claims in that regard are a “huge stretch.”
