Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

And such a good card it is. Anyone who thinks Obama’s star rose as fast as it did, without help from the corrupt Chicago Democratic Machine, is either a blindly Leftist partisan, or a complete fool. “But, I repeat myself”, to quote Mark Twain.

Hate to have FACTS interrupted YOUR reality, but any OBJECTIVE story I can find follows this theme…
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/02/26/AR2007022600720.html
“…Yet as an outsider who came to the city as an adult, he doesn’t owe his political fortunes to ward bosses and can claim distance from the political corruption for which the city is famous. He’s ruffled feathers in the past by taking on incumbents or bucking his party’s anointed candidate in a statewide race, but he has also mended fences and now has Illinois’ most important politicians lined up to support his run for president….”

snuss: You know nothing about Chicago politics. Obama was not the Chicago organization’s candidate for the U.S. Senate nomination in 2004. Dan Hynes was. Obama beat Hynes and a passel of other candidates in the primary. Moreover, many big city machines over the years have produced good-government, honest, upstanding guys. The late Sen. Paul Douglas came out of the Chicago City Council. Harry Truman came out of the Kansas City Pendergast Machine. Those are just two examples. As I say, big city politics are beyond your understanding.
