Listening to Obama talking about foreign affairs was like listening to Brittany Spears talk about ice hockey. McCain was definitely frustrated and quite surprised about the lack of knowledge by Obama and with a little bit of talking skills and killer instinct could have embarrased Obama to the point of him walking off the stage. The guy has really no clue about the world outside south Chicago.

Actually the same can be said for McCain about the economy, energy crisis, medicare, education, technology, and taxes. While McCain can seem superior in foreign affairs (he does have 80yrs of experience) his ideas and policies are the same that got us into this current situation. I really think Obama is right on track when he says we need to change the worlds opinion of our country and our people. Having the same old good old boy club mentality isn’t going to change anything. Obama definitely held his own on foreign affairs, you may not agree with his policies but to say he has no clue what is going on is just plain inaccurate. The older generations have had their chances and quite frankly they have ruined the country quite a bit, you need to face the fact that McCain doesnt have a prayer, the country is at the brink of implosion an it needs a true leader, and a breath of fresh air. A geriatric fossil, and a pig with lipstick are not the answers Americans are looking for.

Way to go Dean, you made a point but ruined it with your ignorance on age and feminism. Change you might want to look up in the dictionary. BTW- Obama was so overmatched that it seemed embarrasing. Many ideas from Mr. Obama but no plan on how to pay for them. Have fun paying those taxes if you get your wish

I am surprised that McCain didn’t bring up that the naive Obama suggested getting the UN Security Council to enact a resolution against Russia for the Georgian invasion, in spite of the WELL-KNOWN fact that Russia can veto ANY such resolution.
It also seemed to show a lack of respect for Obama to call McCain “John”, while McCain called him “Senator”. To quote a John Wayne line:” If you don’t respect your elders, you should learn to respect your betters”.

SNuss: Are you referring to the phony pseudo-patriot John Wayne? Check this: http://blogs.e-rockford.com/applesauce/2008/08/13/comparing-john-mccain-to-john-wayne-is-highly-unfair-to-mccain/

A tip of the hat to Ed, the driver of the Old Blue Bus.
“This is a remarkable moment in the life of our nation. Never has the promise of prosperity been so vivid…
America has a strong economy and a surplus. .. We will strengthen Social Security and Medicare for the greatest generation and for generations to come… We will set [Medicare] on firm financial ground and make prescription drugs available and affordable for every senior who needs them…
Today our high taxes fund a surplus. Some say that growing federal surplus means Washington has more money to spend. But they’ve got it backwards. The surplus is not the government’s money; the surplus is the people’s money…
… When America uses force in the world, the cause must be just, the goal must be clear, and the victory must be overwhelming. I will work to reduce nuclear weapons and nuclear tension in the world, to turn these years of influence into decades of peace…
We will give low-income Americans tax credits to buy the private health insurance they need and deserve.
We will transform today’s housing rental program to help hundreds of thousands of low-income families find stability and dignity in a home of their own…”
- George W. Bush
2000 Republican National Convention

Pat, you must be getting desperate, to make a personal attack against a deceased actor, over a scripted line in a movie.
I could have said about Obama: “A man’s got to know his limitations”. Now you can disparage Clint Eastwood.

snuss; Let me repeat: John Wayne was a phony. I’m not talking about one line in one movie. I’m talking about his whole life and the stuff in this link (which you apparently didn’t read): http://blogs.e-rockford.com/applesauce/2008/08/13/comparing-john-mccain-to-john-wayne-is-highly-unfair-to-mccain/
And what does the fact that John Wayne is deceased have to with anything? Adolf Hitler’s dead, too, but I don’t refrain from criticizing him.
I don’t know why I even bother arguing with you.

First and foremost, Pat, no matter what YOU think, I was NOT comparing John Wayne and John McCain. The line was appropriate to the context of my post.
At his age and family status, it is unlikely that Wayne would have been drafted. As to his service to this Country, I dare say the movies he made contributed greatly to raising the nation’s morale, at a time when it was sorely needed.
I like THIS John Wayne quote: “Sure I wave the American Flag. Do you know a better flag to wave? Sure I love my country with all her faults. I’m not ashamed of that, never have been, never will be.”
Sure beats the hell out of Obama’s terrorist buddy Bill Ayres picture, standing on the U.S. flag, or his wife’s: “For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country.”.
BTW, when your opponent in a discussion starts making comparisons to Nazis, or using personal attacks, it usually means they can’t continue by using either facts or reason.

John Wayne was a wimp and a phony.
