Would a pre-election marriage of Palin’s daughter improve McCain’s chances?

THIS PIECE in the Times of London suggests that John McCain’s handlers are hoping that Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston (above) have their wedding before Nov. 4.
A so-called McCain insider is quoted as saying: “It would be fantastic. You would have every TV camera there. The entire country would be watching. It would shut down the race for a week.”
Uhhhhhh, yeah. Sure it would.

A preelection wedding would dominate the news cycle for a day or two, stalling Obama’s rise for a day or two. It would not enhance the electoral prospects of McCain/Palin. For one thing, there’d be all those jokes about Sarah wielding her shotgun…
