Boehner whines: Nancy hurt our feelings
September 29th, 2008 at 06:19pm Pat Cunningham
House Minority Leader John Boehner (above) said today that the bailout bill likely would have passed had not Speaker Nancy Pelosi made some partisan remarks earlier in the day. (See HERE and HERE.)
(Note: The photos of Boehner are from archives and were not snapped today. But I just couldn’t resist.)
UPDATE: Here’s a video of the speech that so upset some Republican lawmakers:

Pelosi is a gift that keeps on giving and she will continue to contribute to the detriment of the Democrats in 2010.

The debate over who failed on this rescue plan has no logic. The plan came from a Republican President and from a Republican treasury secretary. The vast majority of house Democrats crossed party lines to vote in favor of it. The vast majority of house Republicans voted against it, with their leadership saying 12 of their members switched to a “no” vote because of ciritical comments from Nancy Pelosi. Personally, I don’t like Pelosi and feel she shouldn’t have made those comments. But that’s not a valid reason to vote against the bill. As Barney Frank said, their feelings were hurt so they voted against a measure to save the finanical foundation of ouor country. It defies logic.

Correction, Mr. B. The plan that was up for a vote today was at least partly rewritten by negotiators from all sides. That doesn’t necessarily make the bill palatable to you or me or the guy behind the tree, but some of the more odious elements were eliminated.

It was right that this bill should fail. Letters were 300 to 1 against it. The taxpayer should not bail these pigmen out. It will be painful but they must fail. There are 160 economists that have better ideas to fix this. Paulson and Bernanke should lose their job for lying.

This plan is still a Republican measure. It originated in a Republican White house and as with most major legislation, it went to congress for modifications. The President and Treasury Secretary are still strongly behind it. What I don’t understand is how the congressional leadership could give its blessings to it and send it up for a vote without knowing they absolutely has the votes for passage.
Swamprat, if you feel that way about it, then I guess you’re not supporting McCain, Palin, Obama and Biden since they all support the plan. Ralph Nader must look pretty good to you,.

Mr. Baseball. I think both sides smelled a rat. The rats are Paulsen, Bernanke, and Bush. Send a letter to your reps to stop the bailout! They may try again.

Swamprat, did you look at your 401k today. I lost the equivelent of what I will need for one year of my retirement in one day. The news reported that the market value lost today was 1.1 trillion dollars. Something needs to be done.

If anyone is interested in what the answer is click on this link. Read all and watch the videos. There are people who have answers. You need to get everyone you know to see this. Then write your reps, if you want to save the U.S.A.

Rick A: Boehner did vote for the bailout, but he complained that Pelosi’s speech offended some Republicans and perhaps made the difference in the final tally.

Monster. This has been coming for 6 years. A few ordinary people have been writing about it on the internet since 2003. But your government didn’t see it? Right!!!!
12. swamprat | September 29th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
Mr. Baseball. It did not originate in the White House. It originated with your neighbor, Hank Paulson who lives in Barrington, Ill. And he is a liar. Big time!!!

The original bill stunk, especially the attempt to dump millions to Obama’s buddies at ACORN. The rewrite stunk a bit less. Hopefully, the third time will be the charm. I must admit that I like the idea of the government insuring the loans, rather that having the government buy them outright.
I’d also like to see some of these CEOs who bailed out with their “golden parachutes”, get sued for fraud for running these companies into the ground. I’d include those in Congress who took so much money from these companies, and covered for them.

Snuss. Quote the part from the bill about dumping millions to ACORN. If you can’t, then crawl back into your racist hole.

like target-shooting them swamprats, they are soooo stupid.
GRAHAM: I think it was decisive in regards to the House being involved. John was challenged about four days ago by Harry Reid to say, “If you don’t support this proposal,” the original Paulson proposal that was being tweaked, “there’ll be no Democratic votes for it.” If John McCain doesn’t vote for it, the Democrats won’t.
Two days of hearings go by where it’s just pretty much chaos. John understands this thing is going nowhere. He comes back, and agreement is announced right when he gets back that didn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of passing because 20 percent of the profits were going to be given to an organization like ACORN, and there was no insurance component, which…
WALLACE: We should point out ACORN is a left-wing organization that has been involved in housing…
GRAHAM: Right.
WALLACE: … and also in political organizing.

Snuss.I don’t waste my time reading right wing propoganda. You shouldn’t either. You should be writing to your reps to solve this crisis. And to stop Paulson and Bush from passing a $700 billion revolving credit line with no oversight. The trap door is about to open on your retirement account again.
And by the way, you and Michelle Bachman are both racist. You didn’t quote the bill.
