The first two versions deserved to fail. Let us hope the third rewrite is better.

I read the latest version from the senate, 451 pages. Full of extra crap to make sure they voted for it. They put in all kinds of extra pork, I have heard the figure at about an additional 150 billion. This is just nuts.

Dingo: How can you disparage this measure? Your party’s esteemed Senate leader, Mitch McConnell, said tonight that this was: “one of the finest moments in the history of the Senate.” Are you taking issue with Mitch McConnell? You’re an apostate.

Yes I am. I don’t agree with everything anybody does. This is not a clean bill. I read through it and I think it is shameful that something so important was used as a vehicle for pork. It has some more tax breaks baked into it. So, anyone who did not vote for it, would be labeled someone who did not vote for a tax cuts. It also has some crazy environmental legislation. Oh, extension of some oddball accounting method available to TV and Filmmakers. On and On…

Don’t forget these all important gems:
EXEMPTION FROM EXCISE TAX FOR CERTAIN WOODEN ARROWS DESIGNED FOR USE BY CHILDREN.
EXTENSION OF DUTY REFUNDS AND WOOL RESEARCH TRUST FUND.
INCREASE IN LIMIT ON COVER OVER OF RUM EXCISE TAX TO PUERTO RICO AND THE VIRGIN ISLANDS.
SEVEN-YEAR COST RECOVERY PERIOD FOR MOTORSPORTS RACING TRACK FACILITY.

I have to say it is pretty craptacular bill. When the Democrats and Republicans agree, you know your getting screwed.

Too bad Sarah wasn’t there. She would have stopped that “pork” stuff.
DingDong. If you think it’s nuts then send an e-mail to your reps to stop the bailout. Let those that made the mistakes fail. After the bill passes it will be too late. “Sold to you!”

swamprat: I have already email my Rep., Manzullo. Will email him again today. He did vote against it the first time.

DingDong. The stock market was down 400 points at noon on Monday when the word was that the bailout bill would pass. Today it was down 350 points after the senate passed the bill and the word is that the house will pass it tomorrow. That shows that the market doesn’t like the bill either.

Here is a great primer for how this whole debacle occurred… This is really good.
