Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Does Osama bin Laden want McCain to win?

Former Bush administration counterterrorism coordinator Richard Clarke SAYS there is good reason to suspect that Osama bin Laden and his al-Qaeda network wouldn’t like it if the United States had a president who is popular in Europe and the Middle East.

Clarke also notes that Barack Obama has “overwhelming popular support” in those parts of the world.

Connecting the dots – and recalling that bin Laden released a provocative audio tape on the eve of the 2004 presidential election —  Clarke worries that al-Qaeda might try to influence this year’s election in John McCain’s favor.

None of this, of course, is intended to suggest that McCain holds any favor for al Qaeda. So, I don’t want to hear any  nonsense about me trying to impugn Mr. Straight Talk’s patriotism.

(But then, I recall Fox News trying to SMEAR Obama with indications that Hamas, the Palestinian paramilitary organization, endorsed him. I also recall the McCain camp using the SAME STUFF in a fundraising effort. And then there’s the execrable rhetoric of late from McCain and his running mate suggesting that Obama is soft on terrorism.)

I’m just passing along speculation from Richard Clarke, an expert on counterterrorism and a man familiar with the activities of bin Laden and al-Qaeda.

I think that it is a reverse-psychology ploy by Arab Jihad to play on the sensitivities and ignorance of the American people. Deception is the base of their entire Jihad.

The last person that they want in office is Senator McCain. Especially Al Queda and Iran.

This guy, Bin Laden, has to be dead. He can’t possibly still be alive. Otherwise, how else do you explain us never finding this 7′ Arab with a nose like Toucan Sam, dragging a dialysys machine behind him everywhere?

I think he’s already gone on to find the disappointing truth about his reception in Heaven by the expected 72 virgins. I actually saw a funny cartoon about that:

Probably because Bush decided to start looking in Iraq back in 2003. Reminds me of the joke about lost keys… guy is looking around under a street light, someone says what are you doing? I lost my keys down the street, so I am looking for them. If you lost them down the street, why are you looking here? Because the light is better.
