Is McCain giving up on the Bill Ayers baloney?
October 8th, 2008 at 09:07am Pat Cunningham
It says HERE that John McCain’s campaign organization is hinting that it’s ready to abandon its futile efforts to smear Barack Obama as a close pal of 1960’s radical Bill Ayers.
The McCain people apparently have recognized that that dog won’t hunt.
There also are indications that there’ll be no campaign offensive featuring Obama’s former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
If all this is true, that leaves McCain with only the real issues to run on. Too bad for him.
UPDATE: Sarah Palin gave a SPEECH this afternoon without mentioning Ayers.

The McCain campaign is probably trying to avoid upsetting Ayers, thus avoiding bombing casualties at the hand of Ayers (In 1969, Ayers participated in planting a bomb at a statue dedicated to riot police casualties in the 1886 Haymarket Riot confrontation between labor supporters and the police. The blast broke almost 100 windows and blew pieces of the statue onto the nearby Kennedy Expressway. The statue was rebuilt and unveiled on May 4, 1970, and blown up again by other Weathermen on October 6, 1970. Also, Ayers was involved in the bombings of New York City Police Headquarters in 1970, the United States Capitol building in 1971, and The Pentagon in 1972).
What does Ayers say? “I’ve thought about this a lot. Being almost 60, it’s impossible to not have lots and lots of regrets about lots and lots of things, but the question of did we do something that was horrendous, awful? … I don’t think so. I think what we did was to respond to a situation that was unconscionable.”
Ayers later, in a 1995 interview, characterized his political beliefs at that time and in the 1960s and 1970s: “I am a radical, Leftist, small ‘c’ communist … Maybe I’m the last communist who is willing to admit it. We have always been small ‘c’ communists in the sense that we were never in the [Communist] party and never Stalinists. The ethics of Communism still appeal to me. I don’t like Lenin as much as the early Marx. I also like Henry David Thoreau, Mother Jones and Jane Addams.”
Sounds like it is another radical Obama associate denial of convenience, because Ayers says otherwise. And, with Rezko turning state’s evidence, and naming names, there are just too many ties (no matter how questionable) to dangerous radicals and criminals.
There are allegations of more ties (than previously reported) with Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki, as well. That information, though, is still perculating………
Also, a cute little “nugget” on ACORN:

Ayers is not only a scumbag but stupid. Communism has murdered more people than any other form of government.

Give it up, guys. Obama is not a close friend of Bill Ayers and never has been. This non-issue is going nowhere. It didn’t work for Hillary, and it’s not working for McCain. The only people who buy into these flat-out lies about Obama and Ayers are right-wing nut cases. And that ACORN crap isn’t going anywhere either. You guys are just talking to each other. Nobody else is paying any attention. By the way, I notice that you have nothing to say about McCain belonging to an organization that has more than a few members in prison or under investigation. It’s called the Republican Party.

Pat:Obama not only sought and received the endorsement of Acorn’s political arm in his local campaigns, he recently accepted Acorn’s endorsement for the presidency, in pursuit of which he reminded Acorn officials of his long-standing ties to the group.
You don’t think it is a little bothersome that a group he has had a relationship with is under investigation for voter fraud?

DingDong is right………….

Dingaling seems to have forgotten that the KKK endorsed Ronald Reagan. I don’t know if he formally accepted their endorsement, but it was made just the same. And Dingaling and Etc. apparently didn’t notice that not one person asked about Ayers or ACORN in last night’s debate. So wake up kiddies, nobody gives a flying you-know-what about your precious who-knows-who issues, except you two. Now when is McCain going to get serious about the economy, the war, the environment, education, and issues that the other 99.999% of us are concerned about?
