Obama says he wonders why McCain won’t make his personal attacks “to my face”

It sounds like “that one” is challenging Mr. Straight Talk to a rumble:

Senator McCain does need to call him out to his face. The issue of abortion, and Barack Obama’s own words with respect to abortion, should be further examined. This is THE BIGGEST issue to many voters.
Senator Obama’s own words:
“This is a very difficult issue, and I understand sort of the passions on both sides of the issue,” he said. “I have two precious daughters — they are miracles. But politicians must trust women to make the right decisions for themselves. This is an example where good people can disagree. The question then is, are there areas that we can agree to that everybody can get behind? We can all agree that we want to reduce teen pregnancies. We can all agree that we want to make sure that adoption is a viable option.”
The exchange appeared to be prompted by Obama’s earlier comments that he does not favor abstinence-only education, but rather comprehensive sexual education that includes information on abstinence and birth control.
“Look, I got two daughters — 9 years old and 6 years old,” he said. “I am going to teach them first about values and morals, but if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby. I don’t want them punished with an STD at age 16, so it doesn’t make sense to not give them information.”
Many disagree with him, and his wording was questionable, when referring to a teen pregnancy (and by association, the baby), as punishment.
Now, we know he isn’t calling all children punishment (although, sometimes parents wonder), but, the wording is plain. He did, though, give a direct answer to a tough question.
But, Senator McCain needs to press this issue face to face, as well as judgment and experience.
Also, since I pointed out the MAFO, I wanted to post activity geared toward the right (although no specific partisan support is mentioned, the issues speak for themselves, as they are generally right slanted issues)”

Charlie: Almost every poll conducted this year shows abortion ranked near the bottom of the list of issues most important to voters. (See here: http://www.pollingreport.com/prioriti.htm) Moreover, anti-choice voters to whom the issue is of great importance already are on McCain’s side. Most pro-choice voters don’t rank the issue near the top of their list of important issues, but the more they hear of McCain’s and Palin’s anti-choice views, the more they’re likely to vote Democratic.
One other thing: A recent poll of American Catholics shows that 58 percent want to keep abortion legal. (See here: http://www.catholicsinpubliclife.org/pdfs/catholicvoterpoll2008.PDF)

McCain is probably wondering why Sen Obama wants to be face to face since Sen Obama turned down McCain’s proposal to do more face to face in 10 town hall debates many months ago…. Would have been much more productive than the latest debate crap we have seen where it is 99% rhetoric.

I may be wrong but….
Wasn’t that invitation back before the conventions when, by their not actually being the offical candidates, it wouldn’t have been appropriate?

hokeboy: By the time McCain made the offer, they were both the presumptive candidates.

McCain - living off his wife’s money.Barely hanging on in the election because of Sarah Palin’s popularity. Now he has Cindy doing attack work on the stump. Maybe Johnny boy should have his mother debate Obama. Seems like all the women in John’s life have more cojones then he does. What potential he had and what a joke he has become. Crazy old Coot.

Make it to his face, why? You know the answer, Obambi will just deny it. Just like he went to a racist socialist church for 20 years but never heard a hateful word. This is a church that preach black liberation theology, which in itself is hateful.

Yes DingDong,
But presumptive candidate is not the official candidate. Just because Sarah doesn’t follow the rules doesn’t mean rules should be ignored. Propriety calls for discussion/debate to be between the two candidates, not those presumed to be. I always wondered if McCain would have agreed to 10 town halls and 10 actual debates. Not just formats where he felt the most comfortable.

Obviously in a competition you want to try to get an edge anyway you can. What rules are you talking about? From what I have seen, there are no rules. When you have the majority of media outlets favoring one candidate.

“What rules are you talking about? From what I have seen, there are no rules.”
Dingdong, get your eyes checked. The debate formats and their associated rules have been posted for all of the debates. I have read them on CNN’s website. For example, during the last debate, no prepared notes were allowed, however, notes could be taken during the debate. Also there were restrictions on where the candidates could stroll during the debate. The candidates could not directly question each other or get in each other’s face. The audience was could ask questions when called upon, but not cheer, boo, applaud, etc. during the debate. Go to CNN’s website and you’ll be able to see the rules for the next debate.

Hokum: Your splitting hairs Obozo could have agreed to 10 town hall meetings, check your facts.

Craig: They have all not followed the rules during the debates. The last town hall debate they was silly. The people sounded like robots asking questions. So, I don’t know why your singling out Palin.
