Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.” |

I’m off to the polling place to do my civic duty on this first day of EARLY VOTING here in Illinois.
Let’s see. Barack Obama or John McCain? Hmmm. What should I do? That’s a tough one.

PolitiFact.com SAYS John McCain’s claim that Barack Obama and Bill Ayers “ran a radical education foundation together” is a pack of flat-out falsehoods.

John McCain will unveil a new STUMP SPEECH today that casts him as the fighting underdog “who puts all his cards on the table and trusts the judgment of the American people.”
In an advance text of the speech, McCain says, “We’re six points down” in the polls. Actually, the deficit is considerably worse than that in some surveys.
A new Washington Post/ABC News poll released just today SHOWS Barack Obama up by 10 points, as McCain’s favorability ratings slide.
To win, McCain will have to stage the most dramatic comeback in the 72-year history of pre-election polling.
UPDATE: Here’s the FULL TEXT of McCain’s comeback speech.
