Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

I’m off to the polling place to do my civic duty on this first day of EARLY VOTING here in Illinois.

Let’s see. Barack Obama or John McCain? Hmmm. What should I do? That’s a tough one.

I am sure this is so he can vote early and often. Did ACORN sign you up?

I assume that all the normal polling places are not open in Rockford? Is there a place I can go online to view the sites open for early voting?

My son voted absentee last Monday. Me? I’ll wait and go on the 4th. I guess I’m just an old traditionalist.

LD, thanks for the link. I think I’ll be out of town Election Day.

Out here in Washington we have vote by mail. I should receive my ballot in a couple days then can either put it in the mailbox (with my stamp, of course) or drop it off at one of the County Auditor’s drop boxes on or before midnight Nov. 4. That part isn’t too bad. But what I hate is the fact that only a portion of the votes may be in by close of polls on Nov. 4. Mailed ballots could be trickling in for up to two weeks afterwards. So….. on Nov. 4, we have to take the very partisan Auditor’s word for who won out here. And I don’t recall ever seeing the final results in the local rag. Nice, huh?
