Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

I havn’t understood why people say Obama lacks leadership,…how do they think he has been able to pull the democratic party together, raise record breaking funds, on top of all his other remarkable achievements.

And I want to thank a man for whom I’ve had great admiration, Gen. colin Powell. Thank you for serving our country so well and thank you for endorsing Obama.

    Duh! Powell is black.

  • 3. Henry  |  October 19th, 2008 at 9:37 am

Powell made some eloquent comments summarizing the current state of the campaign. I can’t wait for conservative’s spin on this.

    Dragonfly: Duh! You’re an idiot!

You see, folks, what we have here in the case of dragonfly is a classic racist. He figures Colin Powell is endorsing Obama purely on the basis of race — because that’s how he bases his own political preferences. Dragonfly is one of those knuckledraggers who can’t get beyond the issue of race and presumes that that’s the case with everyone else.

I think Ding\’s comment could be taken as racist or fascist, or maybe both. The Right\’s polarizing dialog this campaign, either you agree with the Right, or you are un-American, is troubling. I saw the interview with the congresswoman who is calling for the media to investigate Congress for un-American members. I\’m surprised she didn\’t call for the re-establishment of the House Un-American Activities Committee. It\’s ridiculous.

Sorry Pat. The above post should have been to your Obama in St. Louis post.

Colin Powell and the Rockford Register Star endorsement. Well, that certainly seals it for me. Thank God. Now I finally know how to vote.

This endorsement, and the Trib’s first endorsement of a Democrat in it’s history, are amazing events!

  • 10. Pat Cunningham  |  October 19th, 2008 at 11:54 am

Mike Carroll: Don’t feel bad. McCain, too, has an impressive list of endorsements. Let’s see. Oh, yeah, there’s the NRA, the Rupert Murdoch papers, the Moonie paper in Washington, Pat Robertson, James Dobson, John Hagee, the usual gang of suspects. Now you know how to vote.

    Pat,

Don’t forget Palin’s witch doctor. I’m sure hs’e endorsing John McCain’s brand of change.

Powell nailed it: he basically is endorsing Obama because he is sick and tired of the Palin anti american sentiments–the country is getting tired of this hillbilly attitude of “America, Love it or Leave it”. True American’s do not question the patriotism of other American’s with whom they disagree–however, that has become the mantra and battle cry of the Palin loving wing of the republican party–if you don’t agree with me you are not American–the coke snorting shrub and 5 deferrment shooter started it and Powell, like all TRUE Americans are sick of it and thankfully, this great American is not going to tolerate it any more…Palin’s politics are no longer welcome in America and have embarrassed us on the world stage…that is why the esteemed General has broken with his broken racist, homophobic party and threw bush, mcshame and the supreme court they want to continue to stack under the bus…It is a great day to be an American.

This would be the same Colin Powell that the lefties have railed on for years for “lying us into war”

it’s amazing you can shave in the morning, Pat
