Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.” |

Colin Powell’s endorsement made my day and that of many others, I’m certain.
But can the narrow-minded and hate filled of this country really been overcome?
And what of this crap about “destroying the fabric of democracy” with voter registration fraud. Granted, it’s nast but it pales in comparison to what happened at GITMO under Bush.
Of course, Palin wouldn’t have any education or good sense to undertstand that. And McCain doesn’t care?!?!?

Oh Boy.

Think about this, with respect to America first……….
If our junior Senator, Barack Obama applied for a job with the FBI, CIA, Secret Service, or ATF, he would be disqualified because of his past association with William Ayers, who is a known (and unrepentant) terrorist.
If he is elected President, he would not even qualify to be in his own secret service detail! Think about that.
What happens at GITMO happens so we can lie our safe little heads on our safe little pillows every single night. We have take the fight to them. Senator Obama’s judgement on this issue is bad. Once he takes office, even by Senator Joe Biden’s own admission, he will be tested by terrorists. Will. That is a strong word, and strong assertion by Senator Biden (whom I think is more fit for the Presidency, by far, than Senator Obama).
When he peels the fight back, as he has stated he’s ready to do, and sit down to talk without preconditions, these people will wipe their feet on him. Why do you think so many Arab nations want to see Senator Obama elected?
Does he think that he’ll become the next, Javier Solana? He won’t.
We rail Palin, who plays an “Aw Shucks” act, and shouldn’t. She needs to prove that she is Presidential material. But, Senator Obama, well, just consider what I stated above.
Think about it.

Charlie: Where’s the evidence that Obama ever had a close relationship with Ayers? You have no such evidence. You just blather on and on with no evidence. Pathetic. The overwhelming majority of Americans don’t give a damn about Ayers.
One other thing: Where do you get off claiming to know whether Obama would qualify for the FBI, CIA or Secret Service? What the hell do you know about it?
5. echo4charlie | October 21st, 2008 at 12:29 pm
Pat,
Answer (Rhetorical), Question I:
Where is the evidence that he didn’t have his close relationship with Ayers? You have no such evidence. You just blather on and on with no evidence. Pathetic. The evidence is 100 times stronger that he does have unadmitted personal ties to Ayers than doesn’t. And, the overwhealming majority of Americans don’t give a damn about Ayers says whom? The Daily Kos? Hell, they’d help Ayers build his next bomb, and then write him a hero.
Pardon my using some of your own paraphrasing, but, it wouldn’t infuriate you if you knew it was “false”, which it isn’t.
Answer: Question II:
Because I’ve held appropriate security clearances, and also have personal acquaintance with people who have, and do serve with the aforementioned agencies.
He may, however, qualify for service, and possibly be able to get his nefarious relationships overlooked by filing lawsuit through the Americans with Disabilities Act for his (involuntary?) short and long-term memory loss (recall dissolution?).

Security clearances, my butt. I, too, have had security clearances (FBI and Secret Service), but so what? You don’t know what you’re talking about. You have not one shred of evidence that Obama wouldn’t be cleared for duty in the FBI, CIA or Secret Service. I have a close relative who was with the CIA on Sept. 11, and he says you’re full of crap. And where’s your evidence that Obama and Ayers were ever close friends? You still don’t have it. Blather on. I can’t decide whether you phonies who dare to impugn the patriotism of other loyal Americans are more laughable than detestable. It’s a close call.
7. echo4charlie | October 21st, 2008 at 2:13 pm
“Security clearances, my butt. I, too, have had security clearances (FBI and Secret Service), but so what?”
Then you’re aware of the interviews, background checks, and visits to other locations (schools, workplaces, neighbors, associations, committees, etc.) with association to your past. These can take months to complete. But, you knew that, I’m sure………
” You don’t know what you’re talking about. You have not one shred of evidence that Obama wouldn’t be cleared for duty in the FBI, CIA or Secret Service. I have a close relative who was with the CIA on Sept. 11, and he says you’re full of crap.”
Either you’re full of crap, he is, or both. Because you, or both of you, are wrong. He’d know that, though, your “CIA contact”.
“And where’s your evidence that Obama and Ayers were ever close friends? You still don’t have it.”
You still haven’t proven that they weren’t close in tie, and all of the evidence, short of an Obama confession, certainly spells that out.
So, Pat, you continue to blather on.
“I can’t decide whether you phonies who dare to impugn the patriotism of other loyal Americans are more laughable than detestable.”
Is it impugnation of patriotism, of just asking for the truth, and receiving refusal to that request? Is it more laughable, or detestable to lie to the American people as a presidential candidate?
I’d have more respect for the man, and his wife (who’s patriotism is in equal question) if he, or they, came forward, and told the truth. Wouldn’t you? Even then, you’d probably refuse to believe it, though.
Be patient. It’ll all come to surface.

The scary thing here is that these people actually believe the CRAP they say.
There ARE people who hate America in the government as was said recently by
some maladjusted Minnesota republican house member.
Yet anyone who claims to love America and then spits on the principles of the Constitution as these far right neo con republicans have done for the past eight years are liars and traitors
They want a reset, Not a continuation of America as we have known it.
Follow their hatred closely over the next four years and remember who it is that damns America and the will of the American people
It aint Liberals people, Its Far Right America hating republicans

Yeah, Charlie, I thought about what you said. And my conclusion is, to put it quite mildly, that you’re full of crap. (Although, I will admit, you take very good notes when you listen to Limbaugh. You are among the top of the cream among Dittoheads!)
I care as much about Obama’s past association with Ayers as you probably do about McCain’s previous associations with G. Gordon Liddy, a CONVICTED FELON, and Oliver North, another CONVICTED (but later pardoned) FELON. Or McCain speaking at an ACORN convention. (Yeah, these are a few inconvenient facts that Limbaugh, Bill-O the Clown, Hannity, and all your other friends at Fox leave out in their daily assaults on Obama.)
Using your convoluted logic, Charlie, McCain wouldn’t qualify for the Secret Service, either. (Yeah, I know. McCain was a POW, so he gets a free pass, right?)
The moral of the story, Charlie, is that you shouldn’t take everything you hear on Limbaugh or Fox News as Gospel. Try thinking for yourself for a change. So, Charlie, you think about THAT. Twit.

I can not get over the WingNut arguments of ditto4chuck…
What HE says is true!!!
He doesn’t have to PROVE anything…
YOU are supposed to accept it …sheesh
11. Billybeermonicagar | October 21st, 2008 at 4:54 pm
Me thinks a lot of people here listen to Rush. You dems sure know a lot about what he says!
12. Echo4Charlie | October 21st, 2008 at 6:44 pm
Orlando Clay,
I haven’t listened to Limbaugh since he called a 13-year old Chelsea Clinton “ugly” in 1992. And, I don’t watch FOX news, either.
I am speaking my own opinion.\
The moral of the story, Orlando Clay, is that you shouldn’t take everything you hear on CNN or Good Morning America as Gospel. Try thinking for yourself for a change. So, Orlando Clay, get back to your plans for marching as the Grand Marshall of the Disney World Gay Day Parade. Twit.

Check things out for yourself unmanager. Or, is that why you’ve been removed from management. Lack of research.
……Sheesh…………….

Charlie,
I’ve had security clearances also. DoD, DoE, and NRC. And I haven’t seen anything that would disqualify Obama. So unless you have some SPECIFIC INFORMATION where Obama has been convicted of a felony or of acting to subvert our national security, then please feel free to park your worthless opinions on the matter where the sun doesn’t shine.
In fact, McCain might have had more clearance problems considering his Contra connections.
15. Echo4Charlie | October 22nd, 2008 at 7:41 am
He would simply be disqualified for an ongoing consortion with a known terrorist. Especially in light of all of the evidence that they have to the contrary, and his denials that don’t float. They don’t need to prove it. The ties just have to be there. Especiall post 9/11. The evidence simply states the contrary, and casts doubt on his denied dubious and nefarious relationships. They can and will deny grant of certain levels of security clearance based on that alone. I’ve seen security clearances denied for far less trivialities. And that in addition to his admitted drug use/problem. If they found that it was used more than once in an experemental fashion, then he again, would be denied. Wouldn’t even be considered. That is admitted in print.
Gaining all of these security clearances, didn’t you guys pay attention to everything you filled out with respect to your background check waivers? Didn’t they explain things to you?
I strongly doubt your claimed security clearance. Or, you obviously needed somethingt far simpler to read, because you had absolutely no comprehension of what you were authorizing them to check, and factors that would disqualify you from Secret and above security clearances.
However, having said security clearances, you knew that……..
You obviously needed the “pop-up-book” explanation of what you were agreeing to.
Craig, with all due respect, you’re full of the stuff that hangs and drops from where your sun doesn’t shine. It’s time you pull your head out of said orifice before talking about things that you don’t know/don’t understand.

Personality Worship !
We’ve seen over the past eight years that no boundaries exist nor hubris too large which could sway the floating principles of the Far Rights True Believers.
Their prophets led them through a bizarro world of anti logic and
screaming mimi conspiracy theories which never fail to appease their
warped sense of self righteous indignation while blindly sacrificing
those who would dare voice a dissenting view.
Even one so highly esteemed as General Powell.
Where facts don’t exist they can be created, Where they do exist they
will be ignored as Congress willingly abdicated its responsibility to
a group of imbeciles and ideologs hell bent on creating their nirvana
These may not be the caliber of a Tim McVey, But they surely exhibit the very same characteristics as those flag waving idiots who cheered him on
True believers cant be swayed by facts or logic, They usually eat a bullet or drink the Kool Aid rather than admit that their gods are just as imperfect as the rest of us.
With less than two weeks remaining, Their countdown to irreverence is fast approaching, Their screaming more shrill and their charges more outlandish as their floating principles are now applied to those outside the bastardized church of neo conservative religious nuts.
Good Riddens !

Barney,
Your psychobabble definitely indicates that you are a danger to others, and less importantly, a danger to yourself……………………………………..
You guys should consider letting secular reading material, like newspapers, magazines, or even a TV into your polygamous compound………although your brethren (and I don’t mean genealogically removed, either, as it sounds like all of your DNA will match) will get those after the feds raid you guys, and lock you away……………….
18. Craig Knauss | October 22nd, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Charley,
You are truly a moron. I do know what I’m talking about because I have had the clearances. I have held clearances of various levels since 1975. The military isn’t the only organization with cleanances. So, as I said, park it where the sun doesn’t shine.
19. echo4charlie | October 23rd, 2008 at 9:42 am
Craig,
You are truly an ignorant moron. I do know what I’m talking about because I have had the clearances. I have held clearances of various levels, as well. No, the military isn’t the only organization with cleanances. But, you obviously do not know what the background research for approval of such cleances entails. Don’t you read things that you’ve signed?
I can’t take you seriously. You obviously ignore details, and your natural behaviours appear to be nothing short of lemming-like. You just blindly follow along, like a yes-man.
I can’t imagine………………
You’ve made that very clear.
And, I would never be so incourteous as to take your parking spot.
