Palin thinks the veep is “in charge of the Senate”

Sarah Palin has shown once again that she doesn’t understand the job for which is running.

In response to a question from a  third-grader, Palin said the vice president  is “in charge of the United States Senate, so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes…”

Wrong. Other than casting tie-breaking votes in the Senate (which is rare), vice presidents have nothing whatever to do with the legislative process.

There’s more on Palin’s keen grasp of government HERE.

Read the Constitution, I know you hate facts but this is actually there.

“The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no vote, unless they be equally divided. “

  2. Repeat: The vice president has no involvement in the legislative process, other than to cast tie-breaking votes. Palin doesn’t know that, and apparently you don’t either.

Joe Biden says we will be tested in the first 6 months of an Oblahblah presidency. What does he know that the rest of us don’t?

  4. DingDong

She said nothing that is excluded in the constitution. Like a strict constructionist Justice.

Where’s the story on Joes latest lecture on the eminent terrorist attack that we can expect after the softy Obambi is elected. Once again, only crickets chirping when it comes to reporting what Biden has predicted. Journalism is dead. They will be sorry. When they hit and Obambi is caught showing the true colors of the dems with his cut and run policies and his apeasement policies, the voters will be sorry this guy ever was allowed on the ballot. And the blood of the victims will be on the hands of the media who kept silent and the voters who knew but voted for him anyway… This time Ol’ Joe is right on the money..

  6. “Mark my words, It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”

That is what Biden said. Where do you get “eminent terrorist attack”. Just make stuff up why don’t you. Enjoy November 4th.

Now, about those ignorant Palin comments…..?

  7. DingDong

I’ll choose ignorant, even though you can’t point out what is wrong in the constitution with what she said, any day over stupid. Biden is either stupid or he likes McCain more than he is letting on. You can fix ignorant. YOU CAN’T FIX STUPID.

  8. She has had months to bone up on this stuff and hasn’t bothered. Possible leader of the free world? Give me a break.

  9. Billybeermonicagar

When was the last time any of the candidates stood in front of the press and took on all questions? I don’t think the dems have been out there either. They can’t afford to get tripped up and actually tell the truth. Joe the plumber ring any bells?

  10. bannernews

Yeah DingDong save yourself leave the country. I’m thinking Berchtesgaden would be perfect for you. The leaves are probably beautiful there this time of year. Hell stay for eight years.

  11. Billybeermonicagar

Yea Ding, leave your country like all those dumb ass libs from dollywood said they would. (Hey Ding-Keep up the good work-sales should be up for hypertension meds) Looks like Steel has hit a few chords too!

  12. The veep is not ‘in charge’ of the Senate. The only thing the veep does is vote in the case of a tie vote. Period. If that isn’t the case, that would mean Cheney has been in charge of the Senate the last eight years. Please tell me what he has done with the Senate during this time.

  13. DingDong

Wow, bannernews typical liberal statement inferring that I am a Nazi. I am not like all the crazy liberal who say they are going to leave then they don’t, too bad for us. I will stay and fight the good fight. I believe people will eventually wake up to this fraud. How is that you associate me with Nazis? When Obama threatens anyone says anything negative with a lawsuit. I call that almost fascist. No I am sorry he likes dictators like Hugo Chivas and Castro much better. This when a much better place if you Bannernews and all the hollywood dead weight would left four years ago. Show me what it says in the constitution, Henry.

  14. Dingie –
Tell me what work Cheney has done in the Senate these past 8 years. He was ‘in charge’. You might be as ignorant as Palin. Crickets, get ready.

  15. DingDong

I never said I knew of any but I did ask if there was anything in the constitution that prevents the VP from assuming their traditional role in the senate. The following suggest that a VP could resume that role if they wanted. Actually Cheney only did a couple of times but he did preside over the senate. And here to one of you favorite sites listing Cheney as presiding over the senate, Henry.

    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/10/6/11163/2940

“The President pro tempore, just like the Vice President, over time has ceased presiding over the Senate on a daily basis, owing to the mundane nature of the position. Furthermore, as the President pro tempore is now usually the most senior senator of the majority party, he or she most likely also chairs a major Senate committee, along with other duties this status entails. Therefore, the President pro tempore has less time now than in the past to preside daily over the Senate. Instead, any junior senator can be designated acting President pro tempore to preside over the Senate on a daily basis. This allows junior senators to learn proper parliamentary procedure.”

  16. A testing of a new president is nothing new. Within Clintons’ first year, we had Oklahoma City being bombed. Within Bushs’ first year, we had 9/11. I think Sen. Biden just spoke what everyone has probaly thought. Looks like there is more straight talk coming from the Dems than the Reps. The Reps just want to throw as much personal garbage out there and hope something sticks. What a great way to lead a campaign, much less a country.

  17. bannernews

    Sorry there Ding Dang.

As with most of your assumptions your are completely wrong. I voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004.

Unfortunatley there isn’t much conservative Rebublican left in the Republican party. Huge deficits, a war going wrong, an occupation that seems to last for ever, financial meltdown. and the Republican answer is to call everyone else names.

Now the Repubs have been saying a lot negative things about Obama but I have only heard of one threat of lawsuit. If the Republicans really believed in what their ad was going to say why didn’t they run it? Must have gone to the dick Cheney school of bravery.

    Tell Rush, hi for me.

  18. DingDong

Bannernews: You did infer that I was a nazi by your statement. But I have to say McCain seems a little more concerned about the budget than Obama. The Ad was refused by the networks they ran were they would accept it. Here he trying to use DOJ to stop it.

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0808/12816.html

Here he is trying to stop the ACORN investigations.

    http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/10/17/obama-campaign-seeks-special-prosecutor-inquiry/?apage=3

Threatens to sue over NRA ad.

    http://www.nraila.org/media/PDFs/ObamaLetterNRAAd.pdf

So as you can see it is more than once. Bannernews you could be lying about voting for Bush for all I know. Lets talk about your points.

Hugh Deficit: Obama is going to reduce the deficit, come on.

Financial Meltdown: The dems came out on the house floor and tried to lay this down on the republicans. Even though there is video after video of them tell us Freddie and Fannie were fine.

War: Does not matter a this point whether we should have gone or not. We can’t abandon those people now. Look how long we stayed in Germany even after the war ended. Not to worry the Iraq government is ready for us to go.

The other thing I think about is supreme court justices, they are there for life.
