Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

    Obama———– NO WAY

The main reasons that I’m voting for Barack Obama are:

    1) Because I want my Social Security benefits, which I have paid into my whole working life to be made accessible to illegal immigrants and new citizens, even though they’ve not paid taxes, or into Social Security. I think it is fair for them fo collect that at my, and our, expense. Even if it means there will be less of it, if any, left for me at retirement. That’s a sacrifice that I am willing to make for those who refuse to naturalize and pay taxes and Social Security as my forefathers did, and as I do.

    2) Because I want the earnings that I work so hard to make “redistributed”, so that people who make a career of living off of social programs will have more “free” money to spend, and pump into the economy. I want to work harder, so that my money can be “redistributed” to them, allowing them to buy that High-Definition LCD TV and Playstation 3 that my own family doesn’t even have. I worked hard my entire life, served in the Marine Corps, put myself through college on the GI Bill and ISVG (which I earned), statrted my professional career at the bottom, and paid my dues to climb every rung, working my family from poverty (no exaggeration) to the pleasant life that we lead today, just so that extra money, and extra little bit of financial freedom that we have worked so hard and sacrificed so much to gain can be “redistributed” to those who choose not to take advantage of the opportunities that America provides. I want to work harder for less, and have that money “redistributed” to whomever Barack Obama sees fit to receive it, so that they can have nicer things without the unpleasantness that goes along with responsibility, working hard, and saving money for your goals.

    3) Because I want universal health care, and to pay the government for such services, rather than pay private providers, as I do now. I am very excited at the prospect of my taxes increasing to cover said universal healthcare, above and beyond the “redistributed” portion of my income. That way, people don’t need to work hard, and get insurance, or, pay those pesky medical bills. Sure, I’ll be appointed a doctor, as, I will lose my choice in which family physician that we choose to use, but, I am excited at the prospect. You see, I love a good mystery.

    4) Because, in light of their performance, I feel that it is important to boost our congress to 60% democratic. That way, things will get even better, and they can steamroll that pesky coo-coo conservative base, and promote the important agendas, such as gay marriage, and our soon to be upcoming hugs-for-peace campaign with the Mullahs in Iran. They only grew 13% richer in 2007, and that, ladies and gentlemen, is unacceptable. We can finally index that silly idea of energy independence, circular-file the senseless blather about increased quality in homeland manufacturing, and get to the important issues. Also, we need to see Barney Frank doled more responsibility, and of even larger importance. I say we make him Secretary of State. Who wouldn’t be impressed meeting him. He’s not only great for our nation, he’s good for the world.

    5) Sure Bill Ayers recently called the police, the very government he detests and preaches against, for help and protection against some pesky reporters. Ironic? No. I want to see his educational agendas presented to my children. I want him to be responsible for shaping the mindset and political views of our children from an early age, their most formative years. That way, we’ll increase our free-thinking base, and our activism will change the world (even if though violent means with base in good intention).

    6) We need to downsize and decommission our military, as we won’t be fighting. We’ll reassign them as unarmed goodwill ambassadors to carry forward our upcoming hugs-for-peace campaign agenda.

    7) I think it is important for us to let the UN decide how we deal with issues that directly effect us. What do they want us to do? We need to know, so that we can keep them happy, and therefore us happy.

8)With the European Union leading the way, the internationalists are preparing to exploit the recent global financial turmoil to hold a “second Bretton Woods” in plan to radically restructure the world’s entire international financial system. We need to hand over the reigns, and let them do what they will. I would feel better about that, personally.

    9) Because homeland security, the sovereignty of our only Middle-East ally, the idea of not attacking a nuclear ally (Pakistan), and not sacrificing all ground that we have made in securing Afghanistan and Iraq (Blood for Oil? If that were the case, wouldn’t we have seized the Iraqi oil fields?) are all overrated issues, and not important to anyone.

    10) We need to, finally, hand Israel over to Palestine, and be done with Israel’s “Independence” or “Soverignty” daydream, or whatever, after they took their nation back (after near extinction through genocide). Just give their land (which they purchased barren at exorbitant prices from Arab landlords, you’ll find, if you do your research, and though irrigation and implement of agricultural technology, turned back into fertile bountiful land) back to the Arabs, and declare them Arab, and not Jewish. Damn Radical Zionists.
