A new poll out tonight SAYS 13 percent of registered voters are expected to be first-time voters in this election, in which case Barack Obama will win in a blowout.
But, if new voters don’t show in such big numbers, the race could be close.

Politico.com has a NIFTY COLLECTION of opinions, pro and con, on Barack Obama’s 30-minute ad that aired last night on seven TV networks.
UPDATE: Viewership RATINGS for the infomercial were considerably higher than what the regular programming in that time slot ordinarily draws. More than 30 million people saw the ad.

It says HERE that John McCain and his handlers have seemed pretty happy in recent days and claim that their reading of recent polls gives them new hope that the GOP presidential ticket will prevail.
UPDATE: But alas, a new Reuters/Zogby poll out this morning SHOWS Barack Obama opening a lead of seven percentage points.
“This is not good news for McCain,” says pollster John Zogby. “The race was tightening for a few days but now it is going back the other way.”
