Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.” |

A new Associated Press poll SHOWS that more John McCain supporters feel glum about the presidential campaign while more of Obama’s are charged up over it.
One expert says the contrasting moods could affect how likely the two candidates’ supporters are to vote on Election Day, possibly dampening McCain’s turnout while boosting Obama’s.

As the presidential candidates sprint toward the finish line, let’s ponder the latest scenario analysis (above) from our friends over at FiveThirtyEight.com.
The numbers here derive from 10,000 computer simulations of the presidential election, using current poll figures and some historical data.
Among the projections of greatest interest are that John McCain has only one chance in 25 of winning the national popular vote and only one chance in 3,333 of carrying all the states that George W. Bush carried four years ago.
