Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Karl Rove predicts big Obama win

Famed political henchman Karl Rove SAYS Barack Obama will win the battleground states of Florida, Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Colorado and Nevada on his way to amassing 338 electoral votes and capturing the presidency.

Just this once, I’m willing to ignore the fact that Rove has often been wrong about political things.

POSTSCRIPT: Here are a couple dozen MORE PREDICTIONS from prominent politicos (including a few I’ve already passed along).

Another good get-out-the-vote ad

Barack Obama’s 86-year-old grandmother, Madelyn Dunham (above with her husband Stanley, now deceased), DIED today in Hawaii after a long battle with cancer.

UPDATE: Obama talks about the passing of his grandmother:

Drudge Report sinks to new level of desperation

7 comments November 3rd, 2008

Matt Drudge, whose relentless efforts to derail Barack Obama’s presidential candidacy have become as silly as they are ineffective, now wants us to believe that the Illinois senator flashed the proverbial bird to John McCain:

All those McCainiac attacks on Obama’s character and background have come to naught

Maybe the McCain-Palin ticket would be in better shape going into this election if the Republican campaign had not been so sleazy.

Clearly, the DIRTY STUFF has not worked.

UPDATE: The proven futility of the McCain camp’s attacks on Obama’s patriotism and loyalty hasn’t stopped the comedy team of Dumb & Dumber from coming up with these 11th-hour gems:

According to this analysis, McCain has one chance in 27 of winning

THIS is one of those cool computer projections they do every day over at FiveThirtyEight. com, and it shows a 96.3-percent likelihood that Barack Obama will win the election.

The theory now is that John McCain will fall far short even if two out of every three of the remaining undecided voters move his way.

Only one day left! Predictions, please

OK, it’s time for all you Applesaucers across America and around the world to make your predictions on the outcome of the presidential election.

The process is simple: Merely name the candidate you expect to win and guess how many electoral votes he’ll get. Example: McCain, 306. (The minimum is 270, the maximum 538.)

The comments are time-stamped, so I’ll be able to determine which of you was first with the correct answer (or closest to it). The winner will be treated to gushing praise from me and will be granted an honorary degree from the Applesauce Institute of Advanced Political Studies (in the unlikely event that such an institution is ever established).

This post will be bumped back to the top every morning through election day to maximize exposure to the teeming masses wandering aimlessly around the Internet.

This competition is intended solely for amusement purposes. No wagering, please.

POSTSCRIPT: Here’s my prediction: Obama, 353.

The REAL Mavericks have something to say
