God, I wish I was there!
We did get down to the UAW hall for their party and, on a much smaller scale, it was an inspiring evening. I was hoping to see you there, Pat. Everyone, from babes in arms to folks with walkers, was estatic once the winning talley was announced. We went wild. Tears and grins were everywhere, oftentimes in the same expression, and there was a real feeling throughout the crowd that “Yes, we can!”.
It was good to be a Democrat.
It was good to be an American.

Obama’s speech was excellent. My sister was there in Grant park and she said it was an awesome experience. On a similar note, I think that John McCain’s concession speech was the best speech he gave through this campaign. I gained back a lot of the respect I had for him back in 2000, but lost during the last few years and especially during this campaign.
I think that is very telling that both candidates in their respective speeches spoke of uniting behind commonality and working together for the good of our country, far too much emphasis is placed on “the base” on both sides. The American people spoke and showed that we are largely a nation of moderates, with lunatic fringes on both sides. Obama actively went after moderate voters, and they largely voted for him. I think that if McCain had focused on his strengths with moderate voters, instead of trying to drum up support amongst the “base” he would have done much better.

I’m glad to hear Obama say this: “Let’s resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long.”
But, is it just talk?
Connecticut independent Sen. Joe Lieberman said Thursday he needs a few days to ponder “the options that I have before me” after a meeting with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
What does that mean?
Appoints the HIGHLY partisan Rahm Emanuel as Chief of Staff. Emanuel is known as a foul-mouthed practitioner of brass-knuckled politics who relishes both conflict and publicity. He once mailed a dead fish to a political foe.
Doesn’t sound too bi-partisan, either.
What is next? Bill Ayres for Secretary of Education?

Gee snuss,
It seems you wouldn’t make the “bi-partisan cut” either.

You have to walk the walk, not just talk the talk. So far, it appears that Obama’s speech contains a lot of “applesauce”, and little substance.

Snuss,
can you name any CofS of any President that was non-partisan?
Rove, Sununu, Podesta, Baker, Jordan, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Haig, Haldeman…..
They’re, by the nature of their job, not suposed to be non-partisan. Their job is to serve the President. They’re, in a way, his political bodyguard.

A co-worker went to the rally on Tuesday. As Barack was speaking he felt a tingle in his leg. It was a drunk bum standing next to him taking a leak.

Rahm Emanuel’s job will be to keep the Deomcrats in line. They’re the ones that cover the spectrum from conservative to ultra liberal. You have democrats from the old confederacy,New York, San Francisco and Chicago. Try getting them to agree on anything.

Chuck Sweeny. Now there’s your next chief of staff.

If Obama pardons Tony Rezko, he could become either Secretary of the Treasury, or Housing & Urban Development.

That’s going to Ted Stevens
