Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Sorry, GOP: America is left of center

Jed Lewison NAILS IT with respect to a question I raised here yesterday (four posts down from this one).

POSTSCRIPT: THIS GUY, too, has some interesting thoughts.

POSTSCRIPT II: Here’s a WEALTH OF DATA published last year on the left-right question of American politics.

If you use that definition of “liberal” then you need to revise the left-of-center claim. Left doesn’t necessarily mean liberal. On the standard biaxial graph of social freedom and economic freedom, democrats are liberal on social issues, but less so on economics by virtue of demanding more government controls. Those who are liberal on both axes are called libertarians.
