Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Conservative columnist: “Armband religion is killing the Republican Party”

Kathleen Parker, the conservative scribe whose derisive column about Sarah Palin a few months ago earned her a mountain of hate mail from unhinged right-wingers, is likely to receive more such treatment for having written THIS.

But Parker’s correct (which is something I don’t often say about her stuff).

I was looking at Christie Todd Whitman’s website about taking back the GOP from the current crazies (good site by the way) and read this comment posted. I will cut and paste it…

—I must completely agree that the way the Republican Party has whored itself out to Christian Jihadists cost you the 2008 election….. This trend will continue until Repulicans find the backbone to say no to extremist views. The way that John McCain sold himself out to the highest bidder (by selecting Palin) was nothing short of disgusting. He has become a pathetic symbol of a failed strategy.

Because they believe they are anointed by God to turn America into a “Christian Nation,” the Christian Jihadists are willing to tell any lie, destroy anyone they see as a non-believer or not Christian-enough, and create any amount of fear. They believe these sins are justified by the perfection of their goal.

Sound like another flavor of Jihadist?

Tell the Christian extremists: KEEP YOUR THEOCRACY OFF MY DEMOCRACY.

I agree, I don’t think it is possible anymore. I think that many of the people in Whitman’s group will give up and become libertarians.
