The GOP’s “divorce from the intelligentsia”
November 20th, 2008 at 09:41am Pat Cunningham
The Economist, a British journal, offers a GRIM ASSESSMENT of the Republican Party’s future in light of its turn toward anti-intellectualism.
Here’s just a taste of this provocative essay:
There are any number of reasons for the Republican Party’s defeat on November 4th. But high on the list is the fact that the party lost the battle for brains. Barack Obama won college graduates by two points, a group that George Bush won by six points four years ago. He won voters with postgraduate degrees by 18 points. And he won voters with a household income of more than $200,000—many of whom will get thumped by his tax increases—by six points. John McCain did best among uneducated voters in Appalachia and the South.
UPDATE: Meanwhile, public favor for the Republican Party continues to DECLINE.

Just did a little more research. Turns out those 550 metric tons have bean under UN seal since 1991. Hardly a discovery…
This video summarizes it a little…

I rescind my first comment, my second one stands, however.

A) In case EchoCharlie forgot, the Washington Times is the whack job paper owned by the Moonies. It is about as accurate as Rush Limbaugh. The real Washington paper is the Post.
b) And second, yellow cake is a long way from being a bomb. It is just processed uranium ore. It isn’t even useful for low enrichment power plant fuel, until it has been processed further. Nuclear weapons need highly enriched uranium to make a good fissionable material.

The Republicans, like any political party, can pick up their team by selling their ideas and persuading people rather than claiming Limbaugh and Hannity are some type of spokesmen. Every a lot of times I’ll hear these guys say how great Limbaugh and Hannity;s ratings are. All that means is that there are a lot of gullable people. A lot of people used to watch Jerry Springer but that doesn’t mean he has anything valuable to contribute.
They need to stop claiming their the party of Reagan. Reagan was awful and it’s not 1980.

Pat-it seems Applesauce is attracting its share of incoherent liberals.

Mike,
To go with all the incoherent conservatives? Sounds like balance to me.
