Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Fear, aggression, dogmatism and intolerance of ambiguity

I was going through some old stuff and ran across THIS THING from five years ago.  It reminds me of some of our Applesauce commenters.

Again Pat creates his own “truth”. At least your consistent Pat.

    David,
Are you implying that something about the post is not true? If so, what would that be? Does Roget’s Thesaurus not have those entries? Do none of Applesauce commenters really remind Pat of those synonyms? What?

Oh come on. Conservativism is a political stannce, not a neurosis. That’s just some slander these guys dressed up as a study. I usually side with the liberals. However a lot of people who are liberal now were conservative at one time and they don’t suffer from a psychological disorder now or then. They just believe things for different or better reasons.
However, it’s obvious a kook can have a political belief.

Shawn, You are correct in saying a kook can have a political belief. Read any blog in the world and you will find concrete evidence of that.

    Shawn,
Why are you commenting on a blog entry you obviously did not understand? Pat never claimed he was reporting on a study. He was just citing the entry in Roget’s Thesaurus for the word “liberal” and “conservative.”. Here is a link to a dictionary definition of the word thesaurus. If you do not want to end up looking foolish it might be a good idea to look up the words you do not understand in a blog post before you post a public comment on it.

David Barrett: In all fairness to Shawn, I did, in fact, link to a study that described conservatives in unflattering terms. I used the stuff from Roget’s merely as an illustration. It was something I boosted from Google images.

Yes, I read the WHOLE blog… the images AND the hyperlink in blue that says THIS THING Mr. Barrett is attempting to correct me, even smugly, without paying close enough attention. I will use your words now in a slight paraphrase:

If you do not want to end up looking foolish it might be a good idea to READ THE ENTIRE CONTENT in a blog post before you post a public comment on it.

Don’t worry though… no big deal.
