Blago to resign soon?
December 12th, 2008 at 11:17am Pat Cunningham
It says HERE that Rod Blagojevich “is actively considering resigning — perhaps sooner rather than later — as the move to impeach him gained new momentum and new urgency.”
Meanwhile, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is ASKING the state high court to give Blago the boot.Â
UPDATE: John Harris, Blago’s chief of staff, has RESIGNED.

His actions have been so outrageous, it is hard to predict. He may try to fight his way through impeachment, and take as many of his fellow politicos along with him as he can, when he finally does go down.
He could really gum up the works by proclaiming himself the new Senator, avoiding impeachment, and forcing the Senate to try and expel him (2/3 majority needed). It probably won’t be dull, in any case.

It would be nice of Mr. Blagojevich to resign and save us a lot of headaches, but he doesn’t see his role as serving the public interest. What’s in it for him? He might resign if he can cut a deal…but there has to be a deal. After all, he is ruined, and he feels he deserves to walk away with something. And the case against him is not terribly strong; money had not yet changed hands (in the matter at hand), if we are believe court papers filed in this case.
I admire and respect Lisa Madigan as AG, and would like to see her elected governor some day, but the filing before the Supreme Court is just waving paper around; they’re not going to do the deed. He is physically capable of being governor, so they see it as a political issue. The legislature may eventually get around to impeaching him, but it is going to take some time. Essentially, they will, as a body, procrastinate while they see if they can get something out of it for themselves. Also, although there seems to be little needed in the way of grounds for impeachment, legislators will want to be seen as convicting him of official misconduct. But, since he was only talking about official misconduct, it’s going to take some time to put together something that sounds high-minded.
The most efficient way of disposing of Blagojevich is for Patrick Fitzgerald to cut a deal with him in exchange for his resignation. Even that would take a few months.

Hey guys,
How’s that Blago vote working out for you now. Then to add insult to injury, you vote in another Rezko buddy as President. Next time you see Obambi, could you ask him how I can get the land deals that he and his wife got from the crooked slum lord Rezko. How long do you think ol’ Rahm will last. He’s also mentioned in the idictment. He’s Obambi’s crooked advisor. Every person this guy has come in contact with is slime, yet we are led to believe that he is the Messiah.

Why is it that when a Republican is involved in a scandel of even minor proportions, the media instantly turns into prosecutors. When it’s a Democrat, and a huge scandel involving many high ranking pols, the media turn into Defense attorneys. Respectful Journalism has totally died this year.

Welcome back, steelhawk. We’ve missed your comedy around here. And your writing is so much better. Let’s see. In those two comments above, you’ve got only two misspellings, three mispunctuations and a couple of grammar errors. And you make no mention of autoeroticism, which was a telltale obsession of yours a while back. Nor do you offer any erroneous theories on my marital status, which also was a habit of yours a few months ago. But alas, you still cling to nitwit theories you seem to have gleaned from the underbelly of American politics. Oh, well. At least they’re trusting you to use the computer again there at the home. I guess they loosen the ties on the straitjacket for that kind of activity, right? They’re nice folks, those people in the white coats.

Oh, one other thing, steelhawk, regarding your comment No. 4: You say the media have all turned into defense attorneys in the Blago case. Which media are those? The media I see have all pretty much convicted Blago. None of them have given him even the slightest benefit of the doubt. Nor have I.
You just make up the crap you peddle, don’t you? I’m reminded of the bogus quotations you falsely attributed to Obama during the campaign. As I recall, one of our more intelligent Applesaucers smacked you down pretty well on that stuff.

BTW, why is it that virtually all reports on Blago (or other ethically-challenged Democrats) either fail to refer to them as a Democrat, or minimize it significantly? Sen. Ted Stevens or Sen. Larry Craig stories usually are prefaced by REPUBLICAN Sen. Stevens, or Sen. Craig (R), and repeated in the storyline.
There can only be two (maybe three) possible explanations:
1. Republicans commit so few scandals, that their party affiliation is newsworthy.
2. Democrats commit so many scandals, that their party affilation is understood, and need not be mentioned.
Or perhaps:
3. Left-wing MSM bias.

A little SNL humor about “Blago”:

EchoCharlie: I had high hopes that SNL would do a good job satirizing the Blagogate case. But alas, it was a flop, especially the skit at the top of the show.

Once again, Phat just shows his hate again. Oops, another misspelled word. Darn. I just can’t find my spelling dictionary anywhere in this here trailer. Just a bunch of copies of the RR star. Once again, thanks for the Blago vote. Won’t be long now for the next Obambi scandle I suppose. I’ll just grab another ol Milwaukee and wait….
And Phat, If you get a chance, answer those question I asked earlier. I need a land deal like Obambi and Hillary got.
