Comments on: GOP memo reveals union-busting strategy

Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don't say you weren't warned. By the way, this blog's name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, "All politics is applesauce."

Snuss: They are relatively WAGE competitive, it's the benefits and retirement costs of current and especially legacy workers that make them so uncompetitive.

last commenter must not belong to a union, lets just drop all the unions and let every body make 10 dollars an hour and let some bald headed supervisor fire whomever they want for what ever the reason unions aren't just about wages and the republicans know that stick up for organized labor or lets just all go back to being slaves

Both the auto workers union, and the corporate management, need to make significant sacrifices, or everybody will lose a lot more through bankruptcy. Half a loaf is better than none.

They need to be wage-competitive with the U.S.-based foreign car makers, who are doing pretty well, without union workers.

When UAW workers become homeless, they need to go to the states of those heartless southern Republican senators. Build their tent cities there where it is warm in the winter. Burden their homeless shelters and food pantries. Let them see what they have done to hard working US citizens. Those Senators still may not care, but their constituents might, and vote them out of office.
Something else on my mind is; how long did the US attorney have probable cause to arrest our governor? Why did he wait until 6AM of the day after our governor put pressure on the Bank of America to extend credit to the company of the fired, striking, union members of the window and door factory that relocated to Iowa? I'll bet there is no union in the relocated Iowa window/door company. At least those workers received their wages for 60 days as required by law when BOA and another bank caved and extended credit.
