Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Madigan says Blago might quit tomorrow; Blago’s flack says that won’t happen

I don’t care what THIS says; I’m still betting that Blago will resign sometime this week.

IMHO, it is looking more like Blago will have to be dragged out, kicking and bleeping, unless he cuts a deal and starts naming names to Fitzgerald, This would create mass panic among members of the Chicago Machine, and possibly even members of Obama’s staff.

BTW, why has Rahm Emanuel been out of sight recently?

    Maybe Quinn would appoint himself.

Madigans old man has tapped her for the Gov chair from the start. She’s hoping that Quinn takes the Senate seat, then she’ll move right on in to the spot she craves. If the state has learned anything from this Democrat scandel, it’s that you can’t trust any of the current crop of Dems. We need a real conservative, to take over and straighten this state out. But don’t get your hopes up for that one. Dems still control the media. They’ll throw Blago under the bus because he was caught. Don’t look for them to go after anyone else. Eating one of their own was hard enough. Two meals would be way to much.

Here’s my bet. Blago is not going to quit. He also won’t be impeached by fellow dems (many who are innerlinked, share similar practices, but cannot afford similar publicity). They will drag their feet and deadlock. Many excuses will arise as to why they can’t impeach. The Supreme Court will not remove him (as they shouldn’t).
The Senate seat will remain vacant until nearer the next election, in which all Democrats (from the President on down) will convene a press conference and announce a united front on a ‘reform candidiate’ whose ethics are ‘beyond reproach’. Blago will abide and appoint this candidate.
Blago will ’serve’ (if you can call it that) the remainder of his term. Obama will have to ‘feed’ federal programs very carefully to the state. State business will continue to run as it has for the last 2 years. Mark my word. Little will change, the democarts crave on power and will NOT relinquish it. Any of it…even if it takes the state under.
