Should parents perpetuate the Santa myth?

As a big fan of Santa Claus and the whole Christmas culture, I disagree with most of THIS PIECE, but I offer it here for the sake of argument.

is it really any bigger a myth or lie than christianity? there is no proof of either one and yet much of the country engages in such delusions with nary a question about veracity.

When I found out there wasn’t a Santa Claus I was actually happy because I discovered something. I suppose if people want to be Santa Claus as give out gifts, they should let children know that Santa is a cultural symbol rather than a real person who lives in the North Pole.
To the Richard Dawkins crowd: I would be just as careful dismmissing ALL the claims of Christianity as I would embracing ALL the claims. Churches are similar to political parties in this sense.
The Jesus-myth revisionism of Robert Price and G.A. Wells is new and disputed. It also fits an agenda to discredit the church. I am extremely suspicous of any NEW history because it assumes that all the historians who decided Jesus was an actual figure for the last 2000 years really aren’t as bright as them and have no historical training. The apologist J.P. Holding dlves into this in his article “Wells without Water.” http://www.tektonics.org/uz/wellsga01.html
Maybe you could ask people why they believe these things before throwing the pejoritive “delusion” out which could be taken by people as a slander.
Are you looking for God droppings in the woods?
