Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.” |

Sure, there’s blatant hypocrisy (we’ve already seen that word used here at Applesauce today, haven’t we?) at work here, and O’Reilly knows it. But he doesn’t care.
Why? Because Bill-O the Clown knows full well that what he dishes out is the kind of “red meat” that his ignorant but loyal audience of crusty old bigots in oversized armchairs craves. And he knows that they’re not about to tune their televisions to — gasp! — MSNBC or Comedy Central for any kind of enlightenment. For these folks, once the knob was tuned to Fox News, it was ripped off and thrown in the garbage. God forbid they should hear an opinion contrary to their narrow-minded, everybody-else-be-damned perspectives of the world.
There is evidence (at least here in Florida) to suggest that O’Reilly’s audience is steadily dying off. I’ve seen increased numbers of Bill O’Reilly’s first books and VHS tapes of John Wayne movies at weekend estate and garage sales.
