Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Stimulus passes Congress and will become law

After all its misrepresentations and all the falsehoods peddled on its behalf by the repugnant likes of Rush Limbaugh and Fox News, the GOP — the Grand Obstructionist Party — has FAILED.

How sweet it is!

POSTSCRIPT: And will somebody please tell Don Manzullo that there’s no money for ACORN in the stimulus bill, despite his claims to the contrary?

It’s not a stimulus bill, though. It’s a handout to every possible Democratic Party constituency. It won’t put people back to work.

Sure it will. It will create or save millions of jobs, many more than tax cuts alone could achieve.

    And neither has Pat.

Chuck Sweeney is exactly correct. The bill is an 1100 page monstrosity that no one has read and no one knows the details of although we will in time. It is a fraud on the American taxpayers and, I believe, will ultimately cost the Democrats big time in 2010 and beyond. It could have been different and it could have been better but Obama made the fatal mistake of turning it over to his “friends” in Congress.
No wonder Pelosi hopped on a plane to Europe after passage.

    More Liberal lies
    .
During the presidential campaign, Barack Obama promised to run the most transparent White House in history—disclosing donations, shunning lobbyists, and broadcasting important meetings on C-SPAN. Transition captain John Podesta reiterated the point Tuesday when he said Obama’s would be “the most open and transparent transition in history.”

At a speech on the Google campus in November 2007, Obama said he would use technology to make government more accessible to the public. And make sure the public has access to government information.

So, why isn’t the public allowed to review the largest spending bill in history BEFORE it is voted on? Why not wait until Monday, to allow both legislators AND the public, time to read the content of this thousand-page-plus Far-Leftist pork basket? Or is that precisely the reason the Dems won’t wait?

As to “bi-partisanship”, Republicans were denied ANY significant opportunity to contribute to the content of this “PORK-ZILLA” package, which will take taxes from generations not yet born, to pay it off.

Pat-I suspect some of my fellow posters are on the sauce, and I don’t mean apple.

    You showed us Karroline.

snuss. Tell us the story about GWB the most secretive president ever. Oh, never mind you can read it yourself. http://www.bushsecrecy.org/
Then after you read that tell us the story about how we got into this mess. Tell us why the debt skyrocketed 100% in 8 years. Tell us why we even need to stimulate the economy. Tell us why the tax cuts for the rich and business in 2001 didn’t stimulate the economy but added $800 billion to the debt back then. Tell me how you would fix this mess. Then tell me how you put 1000 pages of this bill on the internet and get the public to read it, when even the senators don’t read it. We shouldn’t have to read it. That’s why we send them to Washington. That is what we pay them for.
By the way, the Republicans did contribute. They caused the problem.

I think Sweeney is darn right. The Rebublican congressman should turn down any of this dirty money that is headed to their districts. I’m sure Sweeney and Manzullo could justify it to Wiliam Charles Construction.

You are quite right-sorry correct, Orlando. I could not say that with a straight face anymore than you could say that NBC,CBS,ABC, MSNBC,CNN, PBS et al are “Fair and Balanced” without heading straight for confession.

The Republicans are correct to “goose egg” this bill. They are not going to negotiate with terrorists. Isn’t that right Sarah/Joe?

I’m not Catholic, Mike, but your point is well-taken. As a strong believer in the right to a free press, I have no problem with Fox News being overtly right-wing. Heck, they could start a 24-hour Ronald Reagan channel for all I care. I just have a problem with them trying to pass themselves off as something they obviously aren’t.

Careful Orlando. Pat has banned posters for less. He considers the group that I listed the essence of MSM Fair and Balanced.
