Nate Silver, one of the rising young stars of the blogosphere, has a PROVOCATIVE PIECE about the two major wings of progressivism — rational and radical.
One of the more interesting aspects of Silver’s analysis is that he sees radical progressivism, which is rooted in part in Marxism, as the more likely of the two wings to find common ground with the far right on some issues.
UPDATE: Upon further consideration, I think the headline on this post is off-base. Radical progressivism has little in common with liberalism. It is too often illiberal.

UPDATE: The Chicago Tribune CALLS for Burris to resign.
UPDATE II: Sam Stein of HuffPo SAYS Burris could be expelled from the Senate if he doesn’t quit first.

Congress, which is never very popular with the general populace, has suddenly gained an APPROVAL RATING that’s only a little short of the average over the past 35 years.
This jump of 12 percentage points in the Gallup poll in just one month seems largely attributable to the economic stimulus bill.

What was that about Republican unity in the face of Barack Obama’s socialistic schemes?
GOPÂ governors, who have to deal with the tough realities of running their respective states, tend to PART COMPANY with their party’s ideologues in Congress on the matter of the newly-enacted economic stimulus package.
