I don’t entirely agree with him, but I like how this mayor gets in the face of the Fox News guy

Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.” |

Some market analyst named Rick Santelli did a sort of Howard Beale schtick on CNBC this morning, displaying high dudgeon over government initiatives to ease the mortgage crisis and stimulate the economy.
A video of Santelli’s outburst instantly went viral among right-wingers, and a fevered call went out for everyone in the  moneyed class to take to the streets in protest of galloping socialism.
Steve M. over at No More Mister Nice Blog has MORE on the story, including a video.

Radio blabber Rush Limbaugh wants you to know that his great courage on race issues was evidenced when he said the media praised Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb only because he’s black.
SAYSÂ Limbaugh: “I, El Rushbo, am no coward…I show bravery on matters of race.”
And he actually does. Who else would have the nerve to promote the song “Barack, the Magic Negro” on his national radio show?
UPDATE: Speaking of racists, the New York Post has APOLOGIZED, but only sort of, for that offensive cartoon I told you about last night.

Read it and weep, obstructionists:
Two-thirds of Americans approve of President Obama’s performance in office. A majority approve of the stimulus plan. And a plurality approve of congressional Democrats.
Congressional Republicans? Well, 59 percent disapprove. And 64 percent say the GOPers haven’t done enough to cooperate with the president.
HERE’s the story.

Bret Baier, who once worked at WREX-TV in Rockford, now labors for Fox News Channel, where he seems to perfectly fit the mold, as we see HERE.

THIS GUYÂ surveys all the legalities involved in giving the seemingly discreditable Roland Burris a one-way ticket home from the U.S. Senate.
UPDATE: The Chicago Sun-Times has JOINED the parade of editorial pages calling for Burris to resign.
UPDATE II: The ChiTrib’s John Kass, who’s been anti-Obama from the get-go, has come up with an ill-informed THEORY that Obama needed Burris in the Senate to get the stimulus package passed.
UPDATE III: LGC, too, SAYS Burris should resign.
