Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.” |

Most Applesaucers, by nature, are self-styled political know-it-alls, no matter if their biases are on the left or the right.
Well, let’s see just how prescient these smart alecks are.
Here’s the challenge: Send me a comment predicting the day on which Illinois Sen. Roland Burris will resign. Today? Tomorrow? Some day this week? Next week? Never?
Remember, we’re talking about Burris’ resignation here. His removal from office by any other means doesn’t count.
Those who submit predictions that prove correct will have stars named for them in the official Applesauce Star Registry (which is no less legitimate, by the way, than those star registry scams you hear advertised on the radio).

OK, we’re all media critics, right? You’ve got your favorite news sources, and I’ve got mine. And by the same token, we’ve got our least favorites, too — y’know, the sources we love to hate.
But do you ever wonder which news sources are the most popular?
Well, Nielsen is out with a list of the top 30 news sites on the Internet. Numero uno is MSNBC. And, in case you right-wingers are wondering, Fox News is numero siete.
Editor and Publisher has the list HERE.

Newsweek’s Jonathan Alter OFFERS a few keen insights into Barack Obama’s character and style and suggests that the president knows what he’s doing in this whirlwind of unsettling events.
Don’t dismiss the essay out of hand. Read all six pages of it.
