Jindal in 2012!

Here’s another good one:
Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.” |

George Will (who’s still UNDER FIRE for his lies about climate change, by the way) waxed a bit UNCOMFORTABLE last night when President Obama embraced Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn, a Republican.
I don’t recall Will having anything to say about this:

UPDATE: HERE’s yet another collection of conservative criticisms of Bobby Jindal’s awful speech last night. I can hardly wait for Saturday Night Live.

THIS GUY says there’s cause for concern that the global economic crisis might give rise to widespread civil unrest, especially in Third World locales.

The big news from the White House today for the millions of Americans, mostly kids, who couldn’t care less about stimulus plans and bailout programs is THIS.
The puppy pictured above is of the same breed — Portuguese water dog —  as the one chosen as the Obama family’s new pooch.

The problem is that there isn’t much empirical data on the political leanings of sports fans, as we see HERE.
I’m a lifelong sports fan and a lifelong liberal, but that doesn’t prove anything.
It occurs to me that reliable data, if it existed, might depend on which sport you’re talking about. Anecdotally, for example, NASCAR fans are widely thought of as conservative. But that might have something to do with NASCAR’s presumably greater popularity in the South.
A poll of attendees at a Super Bowl (as suggested in the piece to which I linked) strikes me as worthless. Super Bowl ducats cost big bucks, so you’re not going to get a good cross section of football fans or sports fans in general.
BTW, in this year’s Super Bowl, a team from a blue state defeated a team from a red state (signifying nothing, I’ll concede).

UPDATE II: A roundup of mostly conservative reactions to Jindal’s remarks is available HERE.
UPDATE III: El Rushbo, de facto leader of the GOP, TAKES ISSUE with those conservatives who have dissed Jindal’s performance.

It was GOOD NIGHT for President Obama.
A CBS poll conducted after the speech showed that more than two-thirds of respondents approve of the president.
Even a conservative firm’s focus group of previously ”skittish”  skeptics were generally swayed by the address.
 UPDATE: HERE’s another instant poll.
UPDATE II: Bobby Jindal’s Republican response BOMBED.
UPDATE III: More reaction to Jindal HERE.
UPDATE IV: Results of a national study among 1,600 self-reported Democrats, Republicans and Independents during Obama’s speech REVEALED that inspiration was the emotion felt the most among viewers across all political parties.
UPDATE V: More speech reactions gauged HERE.
