The more Limbaugh, the better
February 28th, 2009 at 10:47am Pat Cunningham
I’ve been telling you this for months: Progressives LOVE Rush Limbaugh more than the right-wingers do.
UPDATE: El Rushbo ATTACKED Newt Gingrich at a convention of wingnuts today.
And some other guy at the same gathering called certain other conservatives TRAITORS for having second-guessed John McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin as a running mate.
Looks like it’s all-out civil war among right-wingers.

I posted this on your “Is conservatism really dead? blog but it fits here too.
Pat, I don’t know if you;ve noticed this or not. The conservative strategy is to give new names to old insults.
Red, pinko and commie is now: socialist.
Godless, atheist, (once an insult): secular.
I’m sure we’ll be hearing plenty of those two words. I’m sure they will accuse Obama of being a racist too
Of course Obama is no socialist and he is also a pro-choice Christian.

There are three options for how you fit in to the abortion debate:
1) Anti-abortion: You oppose abortion. Sometimes people have qualifications.
2) Pro choice: You believe women can chose for themselves whether or not they carry a pregancy to full term without legal interference.
3) Mandatory abortion: These happen in countries with population controls, like China. Time Magazine did a story a few years back about how a woman in China was taken by communist party officials and given a forced abortion. Usually the justification for these are some sort of population quota or eugenics.
Interestingly, the Bible never mentions abortion. The verse that gets thrown around a lot is Jeremiah 1:5 where God tells Jeremiah before he was made in the womb he knew him. People have expanded this to mean all Rather than seeing this as a literary technique to establish Jeremiah’s pre-ordained role and authority as a prophet, people take this as God saying human life begins at conception.
I have shown the text is interpretable so one can disagree with it. It is useless as secular law anyway because it comes from a religious (private club’s) text.

Remember six years ago or so when the wingnuts (including El Rushbo, Hannity, Savage, and O’Reilly, among others) were screaming that those of us who dared to criticize the president during a time of war should be arrested and tried for treason?
Well, we have two wars still in progress and here’s Rush and the gallery of idiots at Fox News hoping that our president and his policies suffer outright failure and that our fragile economy collapses.
Funny how right-wing logic changes gears when they’re out of power, isn’t it?
Yet another example of blatant right-wing hypocrisy.

Among the leaders of the Republican Party and the rightwing are Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber. The Democrats should have Nancy Pelosi switch parties and all their worries would be over.

Dong, says, “Shaw: you mean pro-abortion christian.” Dong, you just don’t get it. Never have and never will. Apparently, it’s well beyond your intellectual capabilities. The majority of Americans, like myself, are pro-choice. That does not mean we are pro-abortion. It means that we believe a pregnant woman has the right to determine if she will bear a child or not WITHOUT interference from the government and sanctimonious individuals who do not know her or even care about her. Not everyone succumbs to the “teachings of the bible”. And why should they? When was the last time you saw these “Christian” anti-abortion protestors do ANYTHING for the baby and its mother after birth? They do nothing. They just move on to their next victim. Hypocrisy at its finest!

My quote above should read:
Interestingly, the Bible never mentions abortion. The verse that gets thrown around a lot is Jeremiah 1:5 where God tells Jeremiah before he was made in the womb he knew him. People have expanded this to mean all people are made by God in the womb rather than seeing this as a literary technique to establish Jeremiah’s pre-ordained role and authority as a prophet, people take this as God saying human life begins at conception.

If the GOP dialog continues like this, the ‘base’ of the party will be reduced to about 10% of the electorate. Rush is just a money grubbing whore who is in it for the ratings. He doesn’t give a damn about this country. He got his, the hell with everyone else.

NO CRAIG, you don’t get it 99.99% of abortions are performed for convenience. I could care less what the bible says about it. It is wrong. I know for a fact that my intellectual capabilities are well beyond your wishy washy moral values. I am all for giving men and women contraceptives. They should be free to anyone and required if on public aid.
