Republicans up to their necks in pork falsely claim that Obama pledged to end earmarks

The situation brings to mind the story of the stumbling lush who angrily says to his wife: “Didn’t I hear you say something the other day about stopping me from drinking?”
It seems that Republicans and their enablers in the media will go to any dishonest length to claim that President Obama has broken his campaign promise to end the practice of placing earmarks in federal legislation.
But Obama made no such promise, as we see HERE. Rather, he promised to make lawmaking more transparent to end the secrecy of earmarks.
Ironically, it’s Republican John McCain who has broken his own campaign promise regarding earmarks. Mr. Straight Talk pledged to expose lawmakers who push earmarks. “I will make them famous, and you will know their names,” he said.
Well, McCain’s been SILENT of late about the names of some of his GOP pals who have placed big-bucks earmarks in the pending omnibus bill. Check the illustration above.Â
