Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Stephen Colbert hilariously exposes Glenn Beck as a fake or a nutcase

For technical reasons I’m not going to explain here, my link to this clip from “The Colbert Report” is indirect (but well worth your bother).

Just click HERE and scroll down past the text to the video of the guy in the gas mask. It’s eight minutes of brilliant political satire — and a devastating indictment of Glenn Beck as a fraud or a madman.

Mumbo-jumbo, hoity-toity, hanky-panky, etc.

How often do you see something like this?

The Justice Department in a Democratic administration drops criminal charges against a Republican senator after he’s been convicted by prosecutors in a Republican administration.

That’s exactly what has happened in the case of former Sen. Ted Stevens (above). And it speaks volumes about the integrity of Attorney General Eric Holder.

Read about it HERE and HERE.

The Republican alternative to the Obama administration’s budget gets well-deserved smackdowns HERE and HERE.

UPDATE: Well, the Republicans are out today with ANOTHER VERSION of their budget — and it includes privatization of Medicare.

UPDATE II: Here’s another INTERESTING TAKE on that new GOP budget.

Politico.com has the STORY on yesterday’s special election in an upstate New York congressional district where Republicans have a big advantage in registered voters.

The election, which was framed as a referendum on President Obama, is too close to call with all but the absentee ballots counted.

UPDATE: THIS GUY says the election results represent a vote of confidence for Obama, no matter which candidate wins.

Dems charge GOPs with hit and run
