Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Civil war in conservative blogosphere

Whether in matters of politics, religion, sexuality, lifestyle or whatever, orthodoxy is of utmost importance to most conservatives.

Woe to he or she who dares express even a hint of apostasy.

This principle is evidenced in a current row among right-wing bloggers over the audacity of a certain somebody who has dared to suggest that Fox News supernut Glenn Beck (above) is a little overwrought.

It’s not easy to keep score in all of this, but HERE’s an overview of the battlefront.

Speaking of loons, I listened to Glenn Beck talk about having to explain to his 5-year old as to why there were two police cars parked in front of their house, because of looney Leftist death threats.

“…looney Leftist death threats.” More Nazi-wannabe BS. Why would “leftists” want to kill Beck? He’s not worth the effort. Or even close to worth the effort. It would be like assassinating Bozo the Clown. If there actually were police cars there, maybe he should tell his kid why they were REALLY there. Ever think he was saying all this to make himself look relevant, somehow, instead of the loser he is. And rightwing idiots buy into it.

I don’t like Beck but the cops where really there for death threats.

Beck is an entertainer not a news man.
But know one should be threatened with death because your left or right.

snuss thinks it’s extraordinary that a controversial national figure needs protection from kooks. the truth is that thousands of prominent people need protection — presidents, governors, mayors, rock stars, even some columnists.

I, too, have received threats (although not in recent years), and I once had to refer a menacing letter to the state’s attorney’s office. (The writer was stupid enough to sign his name to the threatening letter.)

I once worked in a newsroom where an angry reader showed up with a baseball bat, looking to smash somebody who had written something that offended him. I’ve worked in newsrooms where electronic pass cards were needed to open the doors.

In this society, if you do or say anything that creates a great controversy, there are people who want to do you harm. snuss is an idiot if he thinks most of the would-be assailants are on the political left. How many death threats are made against President Obama every day? Many, I would imagine.

Just the other day, this comment was published on the Web site of Rupert Murdoch’s scummy New York Post:
“Obama likes to think of himself as another Abraham Lincoln. Okay now, who out there wants to be John Wilkes booth? I love a good re-enactment.”

    Don’t be so naive, snuss.
