Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

When Bill O’Reilly’s afraid of losing the argument, he shouts down the other side

Imagine how this demagogue would fare in a debate where each side gets to speak — uninterrupted — for 10 minutes.

Poll shows no one network seen as too easy on Obama, but Fox stands out as too critical

According to a SURVEY by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, Americans are more inclined to see Fox News as too critical of President Obama than any other TV network.

Gee, I wonder where people got that impression.

UPDATE: Internet news aggregator Matt Drudge is even more zealous than Fox in his search for items that he can spin against Obama.

This morning, his efforts were sillier than usual. With a headline that read “100 DAYS: Obama Supporters Going From ‘Fired Up” to Tired Out,” Drudge linked to THIS STORY about two people — repeat: two people — in South Carolina.

UPDATE II: Speaking of Drudge, he’s giving prominent play today to THIS STORY about Obama and a teleprompter.

Oooh! Wingnuts dearly love teleprompter stories. They think that kind of stuff is really important. And they like to pretend that Republican presidents never used teleprompters.

If swine flu outbreak worsens, don’t forget who opposed spending for pandemic preparedness

Just a few months ago, Republican heavy thinker Karl Rove said a proposal to designate not even a billion dollars in the stimulus bill for pandemic preparedness was “disturbing” and based on “deeply flawed assumptions.”

Rove’s friends in Congress demanded that the money at issue be scratched from the bill. Consequently, with the nation now at the brink of a flu pandemic, state and local governments have fewer resources to deal with the matter than otherwise would have been the case.

 HERE’s the story.

POSTSCRIPT: When the pandemic money was stripped from the bill, THIS was the reaction from the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy.
