Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

GOP drops resolution demanding that Democrats rename their party

Amid widespread ridicule, the Republican National Committee has ABANDONED a proposed resolution that would advise its rival party to change its name to the Democrat Socialist Party.

The more rabid elements of the GOP likely will see this development as a sign of weakness on the part of Michael Steele and Co. and will eagerly await further instructions from Rush Limbaugh on how to proceed.

UPDATE: Steele SAYS liberalism will kill you.

Charles Krauthammer emerges as point man for the anti-Obama punditry

It says HERE that Charles Krauthammer is “the most important conservative columnist right now” and the leading right-wing critic of President Obama.

Of course, this is the same Krauthammer who likes to remind us every once in a while that he’s a trained psychiatrist. And under that aegis, he sometimes declares that certain people with whom he politically disagrees are mentally ill.

Which reminds me of the time that then-Sen. Bill Frist, a physician, presumed to diagnose Terri Schiavo on the basis of a years-old videotape. It turned out, of course, that Frist was wrong — medically and politically.

Krauthammer, like Frist, engages in malpractice when he invokes his license as a professional to enhance his political arguments.

A NEW STUDY suggests that the parents of daughters rather than sons tend to lean to the left on political matters.

A Pelosi-CIA parable

(Warning: This video includes one mild vulgarism.)

UPDATE: Bob Shrum DEFENDS Nancy Pelosi.

UPDATE II: Remember when Republicans accused the CIA of all manner of political wrongdoing? THIS GUY does.

UPDATE III: Several media are peddling the FALSE STORY that a new CNN poll shows a sharp decline in Pelosi’s popularity.
