Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Did Dubya doom brother Jeb’s political career

Back in the day, it was Jeb Bush, not George W., who was expected to follow their father’s footsteps toward the White House.

Of course, that’s not the way it worked out, and now Jeb is DAMAGED GOODS because his bro screwed up.

These people are so hateful of Barack Obama, they’ll stop at nothing to help ensure his — and America’s — failure.

Such is the nature of conservative leadership these days.

 Read about it HERE.

Sounding more like a conservative Republican than a liberal Democrat, Sen. Roland Burris SAYS he’s been treated unfairly by the media.

UPDATE: U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky SAYS she won’t challenge Burris in next year’s Democratic primary.

Even conservatives and churchgoers would allow openly gay troops in U.S. military

The inexorable trend toward more permissive attitudes among Americans regarding homosexuality is EVIDENCED in a new Gallup poll on the issue of gays in the U.S. military.

In response to the question of whether openly gay men and lesbian women should be allowed to serve in the military, solid majorities of self-styled conservatives and regular churchgoers answered affirmatively.

The shift of popular opinion on this issue in recent years is but one of many indications, it seems to me, that the right is losing the so-called culture war in America.

UPDATE:  The U.S. Supreme Court today REJECTED a challenge to the Pentagon’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy regarding gays in the military.
