Pluralities see Democrats as too liberal and Republicans as too conservative
July 1st, 2009 at 07:49am Pat Cunningham
My initial reaction to a story I ran across yesterday via the Drudge Report prompted me to misdirect my cynical political suspicions, an error that is very much unlike me.
Drudge’s headline for the article at issue read: ”GALLUP: More Americans See Democratic Party as ‘Too Liberal.’”
Upon reading the story, I at first suspected that Matt Drudge had resorted to his customary conservative bias in his headline. But then I noticed that he had simply used the same words the Gallup people used — which is actually more unsettling, since they’re supposed to be completely nonpartisan.
In any event, the story (HERE) has much more to say than the headline suggests. It refers to a new Gallup Poll in which 46 percent of respondents say they consider the Democratic Party to be “too liberal” while 43 percent say the Republican Party is “too conservative.” Those percentages are virtually the same, considering the poll’s stated margin of error of three points.
Another way of putting the case, it seems to me, is that the two parties are tied in the public’s measure of excessive ideological bent.
Which brings us to the question of which party is more commonly seen as “about right” in its political views. On this one, the Democrats have the advantage (no matter Drudge’s suspected reluctance to draw attention to it).
The poll shows that 42 percent of Americans think the political views of the Democratic Party are “about right,” but only 34 percent say that about the Republican Party.
The report from Gallup adds this telling observation:
In fact, the 34% who say the GOP is about right is a new low since the question was first asked in 1992, and a far cry from November 1994 and November 2002, when majorities thought the Republicans’ views were appropriately balanced.

But the point that you conveniently ignore, is that the percentage of people who believe that the Democrats are too Liberal jumped by seven points in one year. That is a pretty significant change, considering that Obama & Co.’s Liberal/Socialist policies have just begun to be implemented.

To support the point made by SNuss-the trend is not your friend Pat.

Well, Mike, if the Gallup poll trend cited above is not Pat’s friend, than this poll is your arch enemy:

You, snuss, and the other members of your dead-in-the-water party have much bigger problems of your own to tend to than worrying about the Dems becoming too liberal and reversing the disastrous effects of a Bush presidency and its failed neo-con ideology. As the adage goes, “clean up your own backyard” first and see if you guys can come up with a halfway decent candidate to make 2012 something more than a historical landslide for President Obama. (Even El Rushbo has conceded 2012 to Obama and is looking forward to 2016.)
In the meantime, President Obama and the filibuster proof Senate and Dem-led Congress can get busy getting this country, and our wrecked economy. back on track.

Gallup says the percentage of Americans who see the political views of the Republican Party as “about right” has dropped precipitously in recent years and is now at an all-time low, yet conservatives Mike Carroll and Snuss take comfort in what they see as a trend. They probably also see Mark Sanford suddenly surging to a lead in the 2012 presidential sweepstakes. Yeah, these are good times for the GOP.

Orlando you are so full of @@@@
Pat what funny farm did they do this poll from. I’ve never seen a man who loves polls so much. Pat are you are Poll dancer on the side?

Pat only likes the polls that he can spin to fit his Liberal agenda.

Pat says: Yeah, these are good times for the GOP.
So, what is this a good time for you and your fellow Satan members? Let’s see, the country is collapsing and you take delight in skewed polls run by idiots purposely polling idiots. Wow, you are the intellectual progressive aren’t ya!
47 states are broke. How is your hero gonna fix that Pat? Answer… he’s NOT.
He’s gonna tax everyone to death, which is not gonna work too much longer cause folks are broke. He’s turning the constitution upside down, which won’t work much longer either.
Maybe our army should grab that loser now and toss him out of the country like they did in Honduras. We can’t wait till 2010 or we are doomed.
What you and your lil band of liberal pusses don’t seem to get through your thick skulls is the country we grew up in is about destroyed.
Your all just concerned with stupid subjects like polling, that have no significance on anything.
You debate or refute no hard facts about anything damaging to this country because you CAN’T!
The standard reply by you Satan members is led by your high priest in Florida, Clay…..George Bush blah blah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah.
No ones buying your newspaper anymore Pat, in fact I’d wager newspapers will be history in a few years. WOW, wouldn’t that be GREEN. I think we should tax newspapers by the tree until they go out of business. After all Obama forgave 30 million dollars to Indonesia if they PROMISED not to cut into the “rain forests” anymore. For you idiots libs, that used to be called a JUNGLE.
You’re for taxing newspapers by the tree aren’t ya Pat, Clay???? Fits right into your ideaology right?
Let’s tax homosexuality too, ya know kinda like SECOND HAND SMOKE.
And while were at it only allow homosexuality outside like smokers??? That sounds reasonable doesn’t it?
Another good one would be to tax abortionists by the number of babies they murder, I’m mean if you are all for abortion it would make sense. You could DOUBLE-DIP on that one too, nail both murderers at once, the abortionist and the willing woman.
How much tax revenue did we miss out on in 36 years? 100 million babies. WOW we really blew it.
And I thought you “progressives” were so smart, it takes a neo-con God lover like me to come up with that source of revenue for you.
Heck Pat, I’m a nice guy, I will let you take credit for this and call Obama and say these are your ideas OK?

Hey Mike? Is there anything that you left out?
Too Funny!!
You are right though. Just think off all the emissions that would be reduced by taxing the papers as they contribute to global warming too. Being fair and all like the liberal trend of thought it would probably go along way in saving the rain forest as well.
How much energy do you think that it takes to recycle old papers?
I am sorry Mike. I was just having a liberal moment. lol

That’s a good point Richard. Taxing the actual reading material itself, well no wait a minute no one reads them anymore. Too much liberal progressive Satanic crap in them. Heck their circulation is so far down they have to charge exorbitant fees to print a miniscule ad. I no longer place job ads in these liberal trash bins for my company.
Think about it Rich, they are so in love with their warped biased philosophies they are putting THEMSELVES out of businees. LMFAO.
