Sean Hannity, too, is promoting a military coup or armed rebellion against Obama

hannity.jpg

As this snapshot of Sean Hannity’s Web site (via Cannonfire.blogspot.com) makes clear, notions of a military coup against President Obama go beyond the incendiary column to which I referred in the post just below this one.

In the comments thread on that earlier post (see Nos. 5, 6 and 7), I cited the federal law against promoting a takeover of the U.S. government. Here’s more (again, via Cannonfire):

From the United States Code, Chapter 115 — Treason, Sedition and Subversive Activity — Section 2385:

Whoever knowingly or willfully advocates, abets, advises, or teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States or the government of any State, Territory, District or
Possession thereof, or the government of any political subdivision therein, by force or violence, or by the assassination of any officer of any such government; or

Whoever, with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of any such government, prints, publishes, edits, issues, circulates, sells, distributes, or publicly displays any written or printed matter advocating, advising, or teaching the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying any government in the United States by force or violence, or attempts to do so; or

Whoever organizes or helps or attempts to organize any society, group, or assembly of persons who teach, advocate, or encourage the overthrow or destruction of any such government by force or violence; or becomes or is a member of, or affiliates with, any such society, group, or assembly of persons, knowing the purposes thereof—

Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.

Section 2387:

(a) Whoever, with intent to interfere with, impair, or influence the loyalty, morale, or discipline of the military or naval forces of the United States:

(1) advises, counsels, urges, or in any manner causes or attempts to cause insubordination, disloyalty, mutiny, or refusal of duty by any member of the military or naval forces of the United States; or

(2) distributes or attempts to distribute any written or printed matter which advises, counsels, or urges insubordination, disloyalty, mutiny, or refusal of duty by any member of the military or naval forces of the United States—

Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.

Section 2383 — Rebellion or Insurrection:

Whoever incites, sets on foot, assists, or engages in any rebellion or insurrection against the authority of the United States or the laws thereof, or gives aid or comfort thereto, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

So Patrick, explain to me why Barack’s buddy Bill Ayers, Tom Hayden and other fellow travelers from the 60’s didn’t do jail time?

  2. Mike Carroll: Your diversionary question doesn’t merit my taking time to find the details. Suffice it to say that Hayden’s conviction was overturned, and prosecution of Ayers was dropped for some reason I don’t recall. Why don’t you look it up for yourself? I’m too busy protecting America from the likes of John Perry, Sean Hannity and “mike” (Applesauce’s own “person of interest”).

  3. Pat,

As we’ve discussed before, crazies exist on all sides of every issue. Focusing on them only gives them more credence.

I wonder if liberals want to focus on this stuff to distract from the real debate on actual issues? Or maybe to build a case for bringing back the fairness doctrine?

  4. I’m not so sure, guys. Clearly in this instance, Pat is spot on on highlighting these atrocities.

Its one thing to call out Obama’s questionable agenda, and even throw in a couple of (non-racist) insults his direction, but a call for a military coup? Seriously? Sounds a little barbaric, if not childish to me. I mean come on, he’s not THAT bad.

This country elected him. Unless he drastically alters his agenda, the only correct thing to do his elect him out in 3 years.

As far as the fairness doctrine, as Pat has pointed out several times, Obama is not for it. There are some crazies in the House for it (i.e. Pelosi), but it would never pass.

  5. Neftali,

I agree with you, this is all crazy talk. The solution (which I think has a high probability of taking place) is for those who are angry with how things are going to turn that towards political activism and involvement in the process.

  6. Mike,
Any talk of a military or other violent overthrow of elected officials in this country is crazy…period.

Use the anger to increase involvement in the political process and things will change. It is the beauty of the country we live in.

It is also why the Dems are panicking and thinking of using reconciliation to reach their personal socialistic utopia. They know that time is short and their current opportunity is once in a century.

These guys have their own version of reality. Whoever talks the loudest and makes the biggest claims wins.
Unfortunately, this is pointed out in Pat’s blogs again and again. There is a large population in this country that has decided the news media can not be trusted so they have invented their own. The universities can not be trusted so they have made their own. Science can not be trusted because it undermines their holy books or limits their ecomomic theories and plans so they minimize it or invent their own, like they did with tobaccos links to cancer research. They make up their own history of the U.S. to go with their political ideals.
In this country there are now competing views of reality.

  8. Interesting… While it is undeniable that the screen shot contains a poll about revolution, I must have missed the part where somebody is actually \"promoting a military coup or armed rebellion against Obama.\" In fact, I don\’t even see Obama\’s name anywhere on that web page. Do tell, Pat. How do you KNOW that Hannity (or anyone else, for that matter) is, as you put it, \"promoting a military coup…against Obama\"?

  9. mike – so when are the black helicopters due to arrive?

Hannity and Perry sound like Aaron Burr.

So mike, considering your comments in #5 above regarding Pat and “his ilk”, perhaps you’d like to tell us just what your contribution to our society is. What, if anything, have YOU done, that that rest of us haven’t done 10 times over?

  12. Craig: Pay no mind to mike. He’s treasonous, you know. The feds are after him for promoting overthrow of the government.

  13. Craig Knauss

Wow mike, you take delusion to a whole new level.

First, I have worked, paid bills, and paid taxes for over 42 years. Have you? Regardless, you have no right to criticize anyone who has. Also, while I have only “created” a few jobs directly, I have created lots of them indirectly. Maybe even for you. And in case you have forgotten, drug lords, pimps, pornographers, the Mafia, etc., all create jobs as well. The question is are they good, lasting, and legal jobs. And you deliberately dodged that issue.

FYI, not that it really matters to someone of your “ilk”, many years ago I designed parts of I-39 and I-88 which has spurred economic activity in your area. And more recently I have helped about 10 nuclear power plants with their management, storage, and disposal of radioactive waste so that it was safe, secure, and unavailable to creeps. This includes a number of plants in your area. And I worked on a project to control the spread of some Russian nuclear waste and equipment. So think about that the next time you’re driving downstate or turn on your lights, because what I’ve done will be around long after you aren’t. Currently, I am working as a senior process engineer on the design and construction of a multi-billion dollar nuclear waste treatment and disposal complex to get rid of old national defense wastes, again safely and securely, so that a huge part of the Pacific Northwest isn’t contaminated. And in doing so, I will save the lives of thousands of babies in the future through action, not talk.

So, mike, one more time: tell us just what Your contribution to our society is. If there is any.
