Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.” |

The concert was fantastic. Michael Jackson, Madonna, American Idol, etc, etc, are all SO wrong about music. Music IS about the music. Costume changes, lip-synching, dance numbers are NOT rock and roll, They’re broadway shclock. Dylan invented modern rock and he understands it better than anyone. The wording, phrasing, tempo changes are all instruments to keep the meaning, the soul, the passion in the music. Dylan’s band was a living entity ebbing with it’s own life, ebbing and flowing. It thrived in the moment of the song and not it’s past. Bands that try and replicate the sound of their albums become their own cover bands. Whatever THAT is it is NOT rock. Dylan IS rock, he is a rock and last night he proved he can still outrock anyone on the block. Sorry Elvis Dylan will always be the king.
