Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.” |

I respectfully disagree. Florida did not flip to Blue in 2008 because of any major ideological shift. It was because we busted our butts on nights and weekends in the months leading up to the election to register new voters — and we registered 7 new Democratic voters for every single new voter the Republicans registered. Voter turnout was the key to Obama’s win in Florida.
When Obama prevailed, it woke up the “sleeping giant of racism” that is still very much alive in these parts. “How could this have possibly happened?” was a popular refrain heard on local wingnut radio in the days after the election.
There’s a very good reason why Orlando is the last stop on the Tea Party Express tour next Wednesday. The local Cons are all fired up and ready to show their true colors.
We’re going to have to fight hard again in 2012 to keep Florida in the Blue column. It will once again be the key to the presidency.

What Orlando, are you and ACORN going to gin up some more votes again? Maybe the black panthers can come down and guard the polling places. Seeing as though the head of the new black panthers is a guest of O, no should complain, but I guess Malik Zulu Shabazz, was just a guy with same name on the visitors list. Just because people in Florida asked, “How could this happen?” it makes them a racists. They were saying “How could this happen, in a state that has been reliably a red state for so long?”. If there were so many racist, how in world did O take that state? Your race a baiter, no better than Al Sharton or Jesse Jackson.

DingDong - The vistor records that WND references show a Malik H Shabazz as a visitor. Not Malik Z Shabazz. So I think its entirely likely that they are two different people.

Interesting little exercise. I downloaded the names and did a few counts. There are only 152 different names on that list. A lot of them with the same people. Interesting how many of them have the same names as some the most infamous people of the campaign. But, I could be wrong.

The weekly white-bashing episode. You are such a hypocrite about race and your comments are just fine compared to the opposite position, which of course are considered inapproprate. Look in the mirror before casting stones. Gees.

Go away, Bigot Boy. Besides, this post has nothing to with race.

What are talking about PAT? Orlando is the one who brought racism into the discussion.

DingDong: You’re right. I missed that. I’m just so accustomed to Juice indulging his racism.

Orlando is correct. A forty foot long Confederate flag flies day and night where I-4 and I-75 meet, east of Tampa. The center of Florida is still owned by crackers. In other words, remove your Obama bumper stickers if you go 20 miles inland from the coasts.
If the retirees are treated well Florida will stay blue. If not they will vote with the crackers and the state will go red. (But without Katherine Harris’ help next time).

The Obama administration has done more to widen race relations than any “Southerner” has ever done. In case no one has noticed it, the resurgence in the right to fly the “Confederate Flag” is gaining in popularity and it isnt any specific statement against the black race.
Its much bigger than that. People are sick and tired of being told what is “politically correct” when they are bombarded with “political corruption” on a daily basis. Southerners are tired of burying their history in favor of “not offending” anyone. Its a matter of principle at this point. People are mad and it doesnt quite matter where your from or your ancestry at this point. Your not going to take anything else from me at this point without a fight. I will defend an Americans right to fly a Confederate flag that “Americans” died under more vigorously today than anytime in my life… look at this way,..the libs are already attacking the “Dont tread on me” flag..what are they going to do in a hundred years? try and ban that one also..they can shove it for all I care..and I am not the only one..

The Confederate flag has nothing to do with race, as Pat would tell you. Just ask any black person.

Are you saying the south needs another ass whopping? Instead of flying the confederate flag maybe they should rock the white flag. That is the last flag they flew. I also don’t consider those who seceded and then died defending the confederate flag americans. Americans fought to protect the stars and stripes.
