My apologies to Oklahoma
November 8th, 2009 at 05:17pm Pat Cunningham
Several months ago, I passed along HERE a few tables of survey results purporting to show that the public high school students of Oklahoma were scandalously ignorant concerning certain matters of American history, geography and civics.
And, political snark that I am, I used the headline on my post to take a gratuitous shot at Oklahoma’s two right-wing Republican senators, Jim Inhofe and Tom Coburn.
Well, gosh, it seems that the survey depicting those young Oklahomans as dimwits was of dubious reliability, as Nate Silver EXPLAINS.
So, I’m sincerely sorry to have slurred the students of Oklahoma.
But now I’m even more surprised that the voters of that state could elect the likes of Inhofe and Coburn.

Heh. Had to get the facts straight. I still wonder how this state has produced what it has produced.

Pat,
Nice work admitting the mistake. I agree with you, as I’m surprised all states don’t elect Democrats for representatives. Higher taxes encourage business growth and, in turn, job creation. The government is a well-oiled, highly efficient machine perfectly capable of taking care of us. If only all states modeled Michigan and Illinois’ model for economic growth…

Not to mention the lack of political corruption, especially in Chicago, all thanks to the Democrats running the People’s Republic of Illinois.
