Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.” |

God, I hope so. That would ensure the end of the Republican Party for years to come.

My bet is that she will probably be overshadowed by someone who hasn’t made any gaffes in the next year and a half. The presidential dreams of front-runner Rudy Giuliani and Hillary Clinton were bolstered after the second election of President Bush. Of course, they amounted to zero. Republican rivals will emerge around the end of 2010. In the meantime I predict she will say or do something to wear out her welcome among populists or another will outshine her. Think of the presidential hopes of Dan Quayle in 1996. He had a book too.

It won’t be Palin in 2012, but it is looking more and more like it’s not going to be Obama, either.

After the same amount of time in office, George H.W. Bush’s approval rating was 67%, while Bill Clinton’s was 48%. Clinton was reelected, Bush was not. Anything can happen over the next 3 years.

Chuck, you’re right. Obama will not get the GOP nod, either.
