Wingnuts mistakenly celebrate what they see as undoing of global-warming theories

While idly roaming through the right-wing blogosphere the other day, I couldn’t help but notice a huge brouhaha over the purported unveiling of a sinister conspiracy among scientists who have posited that human activity is causing global warming.
The wingnuts were almost soiling themselves in glee. Somebody had stolen zillions of electronic files from the computers of a climate research center in England and made public certain e-mails that global-warming deniers interpret as proof that all the fuss about climate change is a big con job.
Ah, but the so-called scandal is turning out to be something less — no, a lot less — than the global-warming skeptics (or “sceptics,” if you prefer the British spelling used in the cartoon above) had first assumed.
In no particular order of importance, I refer you to reports on the matter HERE and HERE and HERE.

One of the problems in the global warming, stem-cell or any science related debate is that you have to answer people’s legitimate questions with noble but somewhat lame suggestions.

Take a science class — really, spend around $200 plus tuition and fees. That’s just the environmental class. You might have to spend more money for the prerequisites. Call me in a year when you’ve spent that money and taken those classes.
