Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.” |

You are easily duped. Some anecdotal evidence of job creation. I counted 3300 jobs. Big deal. Then the numbers get more interesting. So Philly can hire 3000 for an average pay of 42k/yr, benefits must not cost anything. They will be able to hire cops for an average 58k year and teachers 200k each. Wow interesting, I am sold.

DingDong: You’re the one who’s easily duped. Just the other day, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (which Republicans love to cite when its data serves their purposes) reported that Obama’s stimulus package has generated between 600,000 and 1.6 million jobs and has lowered the nation’s unemployment rate by between 0.3 and 0.9 percentage points while boosting the economy by between 1.2 percent and 3.2 percent. The CBO analysis also found that three-quarters of the money provided in the stimulus had yet to be funneled into the economy by the end of September, which suggests that the best is yet to come.
