What do Sept. 11 survivors and families of those killed think of Ground Zero mosque?

As noted HERE, there’s been no reliable and broadbased measure of opinions about the Ground Zero mosque among folks most directly affected by the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11.

An excerpt:

The Families of September 11 have made no statement about the Islamic Center that I could find on their website.

The September 11 Families Association has taken no stand on the issue, but in a recent addition to the website have said only “Currently, there is a firestorm of opinion on this issue, with September 11th families coming out strongly on both sides.”

The September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows, a group founded and steered by families of September 11 victims, has issued a strong opinion in support of the Islamic Center.

  1. As noted on the daily show a mosque is located something like 4 blocks from the WTC. It has been there some 30 years.

This map clearly shows the mosque is not at ground zero like the talking points say but near the WTC site.
Besdies, aren’t they going to erect the Freedom towers in place of the WTC? So what if they want to build a four story mosque. Any building under 10 stories will be dwarfed by the new towers.

  3. Repubs never let a few facts stand in the way of fear mongering.
