Applesauce on the sale block?

News that AOL is buying the Huffington Post for $315 million (see HERE) has got me thinking.

How much could I get for selling this blog to some conglomerate?

The bean counters here at Applesauce World Headquarters have donned their green eyeshades and are weighing the possibilities.

But I’m not going to sell out to just any suitor who comes along. I don’t want to negotiate with any outfit that’s also in the business of making munitions or contributing to Republican politicians or anything unsavory like that. And, of course, I’ll want to maintain editorial control.

What do you think, boys and girls? How would you like your pithy comments to be published by some large, impersonal corporation as opposed to the mom-and-pop (well, pop, anyway) operation you’ve come to know and love?

I’ll tell you what. If any of you want to form a consortium to buy me out and save this blog from the evil clutches of insatiable corporatism, let me know. I’m all ears.

It may be just a touch premature to put a downpayment on that beachfront home in Florida. Maybe a double wide in the UP.

  2. I am not sure what Applesauce would be worth, but take away loonies like Peanut and your post volume would be down dramatically.

Judging by Mr. Biondo’s recent blog volume, and the quality of discussion there versus here, you better sell quickly if you want to get enough money to buy you a happy meal and a cup of coffee.

  3. Heartburn and ulcers? Try giggles and guffaws.

    No namecalling here!!

  5. “Ahhh ,Another Page View, Another rise in the AppleSauce Stock”

Page views on this blog are like rubber neckers at a terrible crash on the interstate. You don’t want to look, but you just can’t help yourself. As the severity of the crash (read idiot liberal comments and name calling banter) increases, you find yourself slowing down to get a better look.

As I’ve always said, Pat is part of the problem and not part of the solution and it delights his closet capitalist to no end.

  6. Hmmm, I don’t really see my comments as hypocritical since banter is like the tango.

I do love your last line Peanut. I always find it amusing to watch you strut your macho stuff in a forum that matters to no one of significance (and I include myself in that characterization).

My inner amateur psychiatrist suspects that your bravado and attack dog attitude are this little echo chambers version of Napoleon complex. That’s why I have always viewed you as a bit of a sad character.

That said, rage away man, if it makes you feel better, then I’m all for it. To those of us who have lives outside of the chamber, it all becomes rather boring after awhile.
